The customer service advisor also said I must have missed it on the bill, yet i had it in front of me when i called and there was nothing stating a change, it was also upped twice and in that period and we had only had one gas bill.

I did dispute it but couldnt make her see the logic that as it was based on an estimated amount why did they keep increasing it and not leave it as it was. Also the last meter reading was given in August and come septembers payment it had gone up, it then went up again in October which is when i called them. Thanks to all these increases we are now £40 in credit with them, which is money i needed much more than them !!

Just because a company shouldnt do something doesnt mean they
    dont,

I merely stated what should happen and that you can take action if they breach the terms of the Direct Debit garantee.

Incidentally it is quite normal to be in credit at the beginning of the winter(and £40 is not a lot) as you are likely to be well in debit at the end of the winter.

At 6200 units a year, have you checked out EquiPower (not all comparison sites show them but energyhelpline does).

My experience of BG click from June to August was that nothing worked (except the direct debit). I was unable to register or login via the website and so was unable to check bills, provide meter readings, etc. Gave up after 3 months and switched to Scottish Power Online and they are a million times better than BG and almost the same price (for me).

Great minds;) --after hours of trawling the sites I also went to scottish power online today-the saving is not quite so much but the customer service gets a good rating compared to many others:beer:

I had problems with BG demanding I pay a bill of £102 for a flat I lived in. The problem was there was no gas in the building - we had an electric boiler and cooker! I was accused of lying and when I asked for them to check it, it went up again. I left it a few weeks and then received a letter saying they owed me money with a cheque for £80.:rotfl:

I've not had access to my Click bill since they started taking direct debits in May.

A few weeks ago I was promised a letter of apology, but no sign of that, either. OR the bill. My bill stands at £0.00!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

I switched to BG for my electricity starting 13 June this year and have had nothing but trouble trying to get them to put me on the tariff I applied for, Discounted Electricity. I have made several calls and when I got a bill in August charging me at the higher standard rate I wrote to their complaints department. They called me to say it would be sorted and my account would be rebuilt and a new bill sent out in 3 to 4 weeks. More than 2 months later I am still waiting:mad: .

Is the saving really worth all the hassle I wonder:confused: .
    Regards
    erb :)
  • My opinion and experience says they are worse.

Have lots of problems with their 3 star cover, but must say have no complaints regarding the supply of gas itself.
Administration seems poor also and recent features on bbc watchdog suggest, all details on the bbc website. Also have featured on the news over the weekend.

Firstly the OP's question was about supply and not their 3 star cover - and you have had no problem with that.

In my experience BG are the best company going. However I haven't tried them all - in fact I have only been with BG!! so unless I had tried them all my experience is no guide whatsoever.

Actually the OP asked "Are they really as bad as I read? "

    and

Any advice from you expert moneysavers.

If a moneysaver has doubts over a company they have every right to voice it, be it a small complaint or the fact they have had major issues. Swindled actually says he personally doesnt find them that bad.

If you have had no problems with a company great, lucky you, some of us here clearly have but there is no need to try and make excuses, reason why, or try to pass the blame onto us.

Try and remember this site is for moneysaving and just because you dont agree doesnt mean you need to pick holes with peoples post, as it states above BE NICE !!!
