Orange payg to orange contract

Whats the best way of doing this - my elderly friend has been on PAYG for years, wants to keep her PAYG number - wants to stay with Orange but would like a £20ish pay monthly contract - best I can see online is 800 mins and unlimited texts (Canary) SIMONLY deal, however T-Mobile have similar deal 600 mins Unlimited calls but will also for £20 throw in Unlimited Landline calls - this would be useful - due to her loyalty would Orange consider the landline calls as well if we haggled or are they tight these days?? and one more thing is Online better than Phone for deals??

I cannot believe someone would willingly pay £120pa for 'free' calls (actually "inclusive") when the networks are fully aware that 80% signing up for these services lose out by NOT even covering the basic cost of the calls they've already paid for!

PAYG means they stay in control - if they diskike remembering to top up, and auto top-up scheme is also available. As for switching networks, although Orange and T-mobile are the same company now, their networks are being merged (some would say crudely). As such, there may be no T-Mobile coverage on a par with what they are already experiencing, so before switching it makes sense to get a PAYG so on the new network to find out.

Many folk fall into the trap of believing it is better for them to be on a contract, but often the downsides far outweigh the benefits.

You've said she wants to go onto "pay monthly" and "pay around £20".

What does she actually want in terms of minutes/texts/data? It might be possible for a lot less than £20, even with Orange.
You can get unlimited landline calls and unlimited texts for less than £20/month or Orange, for example.

What is the rationale to switch to pay monthly? A new all-singing all-dancing phone? No need to top up? A preferred convenience of monthly billing? There may be a smarter way to use PAYG. If voicemail/08xx calls/etc are not included in the monthly contract, a £20 a month contract will often cost more than £20 a month, which should not be confused with topping up £20 a month, which will always cost £20.

If your friend has been an Orange Pay As You Go customer and has been topping up each month by the amount suggested then he will have accrued a phone fund balance and may be entitled to a retention deal if wanting to transfer to Pay Monthly or to buy a new phone. The retention benefits may include additions such as a reduced Service Plan rate, extra minutes, data or texts. The offers available would differ from customer to customer, however it is well worth a call to the relevant area of our Customer Service Team on either 450 from your phone or 07973 100450 from any other phone followed by options 2, 1 then 2 again.

Thankyou for the advice, we phoned the 450 number yday and we spoke to a very nice lady who offered my friend 15.32 rate a month in return for Unlimited texts and she increased the mins from 800 to 1200 a month (loyalty) - my advice would be phone up as if I had just ordered off the web i would have got 800 mins/ free txts for 20.32 a month - it seems this time loyalty and years did count with Orange . She also said my friend could register her first magic Number which on this plan would give her 3 hours a day free to a nominated Orange Mobile number - thats a real added bonus as her son is on PAYG Orange:j
