gone sticky hunting

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 18th Jan. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the
Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Lunch today will be homemade punkin soup. That my wife made the other week. We buy the soup bags from lakeland for freezing.

    morning everyone

From what I can see, its another frosty and foggy day out there, it was very cold yesterday, frost didn't go away all day.

DW on, leftover pasta bolognaise for lunch.

Will need to do some catch up bits when I get in from work tonight, so everwhere is clean and tidy before we go off to Birmingham tomorrow.

OH is somewhere up near you JackieG, shame we didn't know beforehand, he could have given you a lift to ours and you could have come with us tomorrow, would have saved your train fare down :D

Best get a move on, have a good day xx

Morning all! Is very dark and appears to be very cold outside, judging from the cars going past with ice on their roof! Today the fire and the dining room is to be done, then I'm left putting things back and clearing up!. Boys are already up - but because the house is all upside down I've sent them to play in their bedrooms.

Dinner last night was fish & chips - 4 lots for £17. Was useful last night as we're in such a mess, but in future I'm sure that I can make fish & chips for 4 (well 5 - 2 are children!) for less than £17. Plus I suppose there is the cost of petrol for me to go and get them and the ordering phone call. Find it easier with DS1s behaviour to phone up first and then just dash in! Off to Costco this evening - but am still attempting to be OS, I only buy food there anyway. But will ensure that each thing I buy will do more than one meal! Dinner tonight will probably be one of their huge hot dogs and fizzy drink for £1.25 - my first night out with OH for a long time - such romance in my life!!!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Just a light frost here today but still brrrr.
Hubby's been dropped at the station with his packup, sausage sarnies today, breakfast eaten & fish fed.
I was late leaving work y'day as we had an open evening, been arranged for a year, funny then that it took so many staff by surprise!
Oh well, at least it's Friday, yipee.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all, Happy Friday :j

Cold here again this morning, and not meant to be warming up much all day.

Still off to work, and at least the heat is free there :D, will be glad when this week is over it seems to have gone on forever.

DD's best friend is coming for a sleepover tonight, they go into town after school, and sometimes grab themselves a pizza from Iceland, but if not I shall cook them an omlette, she is a lovely girl and the two of them live in each othere pockets, so she is very much at home here, gets her own drinks etc, I have promised them both a beer too, as they have both been working so hard at school.

Dinner for OH and I will be a fry up, OH will have bread and butter and beans with his, but I shall be good, feel better already after low carbing this week.

Need to get on with some washing tonight, and will then relax for the evening.

Camelot congrats to your DS + GF :T

    Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone.
Another busy day today. DH brought me big boxes home from work but forgot brown tape. Going to nip into Asda this morning to grab some and see if they have any whoopsied yogs and eggs. Then into town quickly to Poundland for a couple of bits that I really need.
Another day of decluttering. Our bedroom is now done mostly, so I am going to start on the kids room. NOT looking forward to that!
Friend coming for cuppa this afternoon when our wee ones are at nursery, so I can feed her more brownies to save me and dd1 eating them all! Might hide some in the freezer I think.
Have a good day all, whatever you are doing.

Yeah same here. I love to grow it and then take the kids out to pick stuff :D I'd love an allotment but just haven't got the time for that at the moment. FIL offered me use of his as he doesn't grow quite as much as me and whilst I considered it I just haven't got time at the moment :(

    Morning my lovelies :D

Back is stiff and painful after my leaf gathering yesterday :( Anyone got a new body they'd care to give me :o
Not many plans today, lots of playing etc.
"Date night" for me and H, not going out but will probably rent a DVD or pick on from the huge stash at home. Have also decided that Friday night is treat night so I am not feeling the need to stuff myself with chocolate all week I give myself permission to do so on a Friday night :D Here's hoping H comes home with some Maltesers ;)

Not sure what's for tea, haven't thought that far ahead. Right better get off and in the shower.

Hugs, spoons and high fives all round. Have a good day OS or not.

Camelot - not read yesterdays thread but I assume congrats are in order? Do we all need to buy a hat?! ;) Hope DS will be very happy xx

BB - pudding for evening meal - why not sounds like a plan to me. Least you didn't force down the steak and then eat what you really wanted all along thereby wasting food and calories ;)

Just a quick hello before work! I'm pleased it's Friday and it's payday :D I'm very proud of myself as I've still got £10 left in my food purse, and £30 left in my spending account so all that will now be split into my savings account for holiday and to pay off my credit card :j Hopefully every month will be as good!!

If there is any important info re the Brum meet that is mentioned today can someone please PM me as I'll probably won't have long to look at thread tonight. Very excited though!!

    Have a good day all
