Ford Fiesta problem

Well worth putting on ebay, £50 or so for a new clutch and someone will have a nice little car.
List it as driveable, but clutch needs replacing. I wouldn't sell it with tax though, unless it's only a month or two left, as it doesn't make a lot of difference to the price. Cash it in instead.0 -
thanks mikey - will look into it.0

The only thing i'll say is that buying another car will obviously cost a lot more money.... With the risk of costly problems on that car too.
Most people sell an older car because there's something wrong with it, the rest trade them in for a new one.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Buying another car is not going to be a problem - there are funds in place for it. The Fiesta was only really bought as a stop-gap, while OH was getting her driving confidence back. She had hardly driven for the previous 6 yrs. She is sufficienty confident now, and regulary drives my much bigger car.
Our only issue is how best to dispose of the fiesta, as it would be very unlikely that a dealer would take it px in current condition.0 -
Shop around a bit more, If everything else on the car is OK then i would get it sorted.
If serviced occasionally the old fiesta's dont have much to go wrong. The clutch it the most
expensive part really.
Rust will be its killer. Whats the rest of the car like?
You may buy a car and the clutch may only have a couple of thousand miles left on it. You cant
tell until it starts to give trouble.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Car has a few knocks and dents. It was a Cat D Insurance right off that previous owner repaired. As I mentioned, it cost nearly £200 to get through MOT in November, and we were given a few advisory notes as well.
It's taxed until May, and to be honest, we were considering replacing it by then anyway ( see previous post re OH confidence ).
The thouight of spending another £260+ within 3 months is the reason we don't want to bother. (Only cost &650 15 months ago)
It is definately going - only wanted advice on best way.0 -
Echo what others said, ebay would probably be your best bet. Someone is bound to want it if the price is right...0

With 10-months MoT, and preferably some Tax, you'll be able to sell it. A DIY Mechanic or somebody with connections in the motor trade will be able to replace a clutch for the cost of parts only (£80 ish). Depends on overall condition and mileage/age etc, but selling as I see it, seems the best option at the moment! Don't even consider a Part Ex, as it'll get you about £50 I imagine. Same as "We Buy Any Car!"0
