Hoping a techie can please advise me. I know I need to upgrade the RAM on my netbook as it struggles to hold a good conversation on skype without being unstable.
If I upgrade the RAM does it change anything (ie changes) that i've made to my netbook?
Sorry to sound a bit simple, but I haven't done anything like this before.
If someone can send me the link of the exact piece of kit I need, I think I may be able to install it myself, I've had a look around and found a few videos that point me in the right direction. I've done a bit of googling and found this:
NB250 you need a standard 200 pin DDR2 SODIMM laptop memory module (not desktop memory). While the processor can use DDR3, the specific motherboard of the NB255 and NB250 can not. It only has a single DDR2 memory slot and A DDR3 SODIMM will not fit into DDR2 or DDR memory sockets. Select a 2GB SODIMM memory module of 800MHz or 667MHz. These may be referenced as PC2-5400 or PC2-6400. Recommended brands include, but are not limited to, Corsair, Kingston, Patriot, Hynix and Viking.

It makes no difference whatsoever. Turn off, remove battery, remove cover, remove old memory, replace with new memory and pop it all back together.
Go to https://www.crucial.com/uk and use their memory selector tool. It'll tell you whats in it and list compatible RAM. They have a no quibble compatibility guarantee and a lifetime warranty.0 -
Thanks very much. I've ordered the part it suggested. Hopefully it'll speed things up a bit! x0

Might be too late for you but for future reference and those reading this, buy this kind of memory from ASUS Laptops. Currently you can buy a single 1GB DDR2 SODIMM 800MHz for £10.73 delivered. here's the link...

I believe there is only 1 slot on a NB250 therefore I would imagine it already has a 1Gb module in there4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy0 -
More ram may make no difference to skype.

Hi Closed
Not totally sure how to find everything you asked for but I've got this:
Toshiba
intel aton cpu n455 1.66ghz 1.67ghz
installed memory ram 1.00gb
32 bit operating system0 -
physical memory mb

You have available ram, as alluded to earlier, it's unlikely to change the skype problem. Unstable means? -- video or audio?!!

Skype should run fine, it does on my Samsung NC10 with 1Gb.
What antivirus programme are you running?
Any other security software/firewalls?
Is your internet connection stable?0 -
