Also I am new to the regs board. I have no idea if everyone that uses it is even aware that it may be changing.

I wonder, if it would be an idea to post a link to the poll threads, on the regs board and in each reg links sticky to let people know. Esp as they are not stickied, so if you comp via stickies and end date you could miss them.
My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly :)

Our Precious Baby Tianna has now joined our Family, she is much loved and very welcome, xxx

I have previously posted my view HERE
This seems to be similar to lizd31's definition at #5, includes bargainhuntergal's view at #9 and leans towards some of twotimes' comments at #11 although, whereas twotimes suggests daily is different to weekly/monthly, my view makes daily/weekly different to monthly.

As twotimes says, it is difficult to explain what IS a regular and I think it easier to describe what's NOT a regular.

I am unable to vote on this poll because in my opinion a 'regular' comp is several of the poll options:

    - Same URL, same prize, no new answers needed
    - Can be entered on a daily/weekly/ monthly basis with fixed answers for the duration or different answers which can be updated as & when
    - No end date and can be either daily, weekly or monthly with the same prize and answer.
:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j
  • I agree with a lot of what's been said about feeling like you want to pick more than one option.

I picked the 5th option 'Can be entered on a daily/weekly/ monthly basis with fixed answers for the duration or different answers which can be updated as & when' because I felt it was the simplest description, but I think it also incorporates all of the other options too, like:

    • Same URL, same prize, no new answers needed (eg. Gu Puds)
    • Same URL, prize can vary, no new answers needed (eg. Glamour)
    • Same URL, prize can vary, new answers needed sometimes (keep unlocked for new stuff) (eg. Bears on the Square)
    • Same company, different URL, new answers/links needed sometimes (keep unlocked for new stuff) (eg. Company/Sugarscape)
    • No end date and can be either daily, weekly or monthly with the same prize and answer. (eg. Battery Force)
All of those examples are from the daily thread :o

I have to agree (and I know the 1st 4 are ones I suggested but I thought a all of the above, none of the above type thing would go in)
I think unfortunately there are too many options and perhaps the options need to be thought through a bit more and the poll reposted? At the moment the split of results and wide number of options is going to make this poll a little pointless IMHO. No insult intended, and I'm greatful for the opportunity. That's just my opinion :)

Sorry :o I'm going to be difficult too :o

I tend to define a regular on how often you can enter it (and how it's posted on here), rather than how often they're posted on the websites, I'll try and explain:

You might get one like a What's on TV one that's posted on here and because it's the same question and answer each time you can enter each day from the one thread/post.

But then you might get one like Company for example, that's posted as one updated thread, so a post on the one thread for each seperate days competition, which is different URL's for different competitions, and different answers, but because it's posted as one thread, I'd consider to be a regular, because unless you see if on the first day you'd miss days.

    I hope that makes sense?

Edit: You changed the options as I posted! :D Thanks! :D

I totally agree, I missed the first day of the Glamour comp for January, and only just found it in the regulars, thus I missed half the month. It used to be in the main comps, with the updated prize for each day so I would always click on the last post that day for the prize. I would also get to know when it was time to enter as the same person always updated it.

Sorry if I am being difficult but I found it better that way
Thanks to all who post comps :)

The other thing with this poll is that further options were added AFTER the poll had already been started ie: some people voted with the options that were originally there.

It would also probably be better to have one that says WITH A LINK POSTED IN THE DAILY/WEEKLY/MONTHLY STICKY THREAD
instead of just regulars board iyswim :)
If at first you don't succeed try, try, try again.

To be honest I dont think it matters what you call it as long as it goes on the main board for all to see then linked in the Daily, Weekly or Monthly Sticky THREAD on the Regular Board.
That ain't working! That's the way to do it, money for nothing and TV's for free ;)
  • Okey doke, those are all fair points.

Perhaps the best comment is the one saying it's easier to say what regulars aren't?

So in that case perhaps we just have to call regulars any competition that isn't a one-off and leave it at that?!?

All views welcome, don't worry about possibly insulting me - didn't plan to do this particular poll until it was suggested so it is a bit of a hash!

    Andrea :)

Maybe a regular competition is regular if someone thinks it is - then it should be posted on the main board, with a PM to the relevant person who looks after the daily/weekly/monthly sticky, who can add it. If its a link in the sticky, if you have already entered on the main board, the link will be to the main board, so you will see if you have pressed the enter button or not.
