Help Downgrading Mobile phone package

Hi All

Need your help please.

As low on cash atm I currently have a £30 a month contract with Virgin Mobile. (Now £30.64 thanks to VAT increase surley this is uping the price and altering my contract with them??)

Its a two year contract I am one year into it.

I have contacted them to ask if i can downgrade my package and they basically said no as still in my current contract.

Is there any way around this??

Firstly, the change in vat rate has nothing to do with the network and isn't a breach of the contract. The government put the rate up not Virgin.

Any downgrading of a contract is a goodwill move by Virgin, if they don't do it, then they don't do it. When you agreed to the contract it was for £X for y months, they don't have to change that unless there's something in their T&C's say you can at some point.

Sorry it's not more positive.

The other option would be to sell the phone you got with the contract (if it's in good nick still), use that money to pay the contract and get a cheaper phone...
