We haven't had a dyson, but have a Hoover 2000W red pet vacuum cleaner with ' dust manager cyclone' We have 2 dogs at home, one is a black lab, hairs everywhere all the time!!! the hoover does a grand job with cleaning, picks up everything. It has 4 settings- luxury carpet / tool, long carpet / hard floor, meduim carpet & pet hairs. The only down side to this cleaner is 1. the power lead is only 6 metres long and you have to change plugs when cleaning large rooms/ stairs. 2. it doesn't hold much dust. 3. the filters need cleaning every month ( not a drawback but something to be aware of)

    Hope this helps.

OK, bit of a crisis here, my Dyson has packed up ... well, it's packed up zooming over floors anyway, we can still use the attachments on the hose, but if I wanted to work like that I'd buy a Henry!

No pets, the only hard flooring is only lino and not fussed if it scratches, prefer HEPA for the allergies, prefer bagless, DEFINITELY upright, and I need to go and buy it from a shop tomorrow!

    Suggestions on a postcard please?
