Checked my bank statement online tonight and saw two transactions of £15 each to "02PREPAY" on the same day. As I have never been a customer of 02 I knew this was a scam so immediately rang my bank and told them to cancel my debit card.I will also report it to their fraud dept. tomorrow.
If you put 02PREPAY into google further details will appear.

Lot of that lately, I think someones found a debit card number generator and a flaw in O2's systems.
What bank do you use?? VISA electron or VISA debit ??Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
similar thing happened to me too. I checked my online banking and noticed a £10 transaction on tesco mobile top up.I phoned my bank and they gave me a number to phone tesco. When I phoned them they told me I had to phone o2 fraud dept. which I did, they told me it had been done over the phone with my card details and they would block this mobile phone so it couldnt be used again. My bank cancelled my card immediately and refunded the £10 into my account without any hassle. The fraud dept. also said that my card details were probably copied in one of the three shops I had been in that day but there was no way to prove it as the top-up transaction had been done over the phone. It was only a small amount but they said it was probably a test run and if I hadnt spotted it the culprit would probably have used it again.0

This is increasingly common. Criminals obtain a card number from a crooked member of staff (where have you used your card recently?), and then make small debits like this. They keep them low because small sums are likely to pass unnoticed."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0

Just before Christmas,a US clearing bank used my many companies including a major hobby shop was hacked & hundreds of scale model hobbyist's were affected.Usually the fraudsters would try & top up a disposable p&g mobile &,if that went thru, they'd be hitting with bigger charges buying TV's ect.

Further to my original post I have today received the email below which may explain how my details were obtained.
Dear Customer
We would like to draw your attention to the statement below, as we believe you placed an order with us during the affected period. We are keen for customers not to have their credit cards used fraudulently, so urge you to contact your bank.
Thank you for your past custom, we really appreciate all the support you give - especially at this time whilst we are under attack.
Everyone at Lush xx

Our website has been the victim of hackers.
24 hour security monitoring has shown us that we are still being targeted and there are continuing attempts to re-enter.
We refuse to put our customers at risk of another entry - so have decided to completely retire this version of our website.
For complete ease of mind, we would like all customers that placed ONLINE orders with us between 4th Oct 2010 and today, 20th Jan 2011, to contact their banks for advice as their card details may have been compromised.
We Believe hacking is a serious crime which steals large amounts of money and disrupts the lives of cardholders.
We Believe that hacking erodes the trust between businesses and their customers and creates a climate of fear around online ordering.
We Believe in working with police and banks to do all we can to bring this branch of organised crime to justice.
A completely separate, temporary website will be launched in a few days - initially taking PayPal payments only.
Meanwhile we would be delighted to serve you in our shops or take your order at our Mail Order Phone Room. Both of which have not been affected by this crisis since the credit card terminals are directly linked to the banks only and are not internet based.
We would like to thank all our customers for standing shoulder to shoulder with us whilst we have shared being victims of this crime.0 -

Sounds bad. but why did you not ask to be put through to the fraud department at the same time?"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -

I did, and cancelled all my other cards at the same time as an extra precaution.0 -

Please be very careful about clicking on a link that you receive through an email like this. They can sometimes be dummy websites that fraudsters use to further scam you eg to gather your password for paypal etc0 -
How is that possible??? Enlighten me.Everyday is a Beautiful Day, cherish each one as it comes******0
