  • "ripped off driver" - I said at the beginning I wasn't going to be drawn into giving free legal advice.

So I'd suggest you take your comments above to your local solicitors office and challenge them on it. They'll tell you that you're spouting utter jockrot.

Ha ha. Can't see there being a queue for legal advice from you, old son. Personally I like to get my advice from someone who knows what they are talking about.

But if I ever decide to do a stand up comedy gig I may come back to you for some lines.

Of course, now that I read that YOU said it wouldn't be theft I realise that I am totally wrong. I am sorry.

I'll go and tell all the lads on my next shift that we've got it all wrong and we've been locking people up for theft for years and everything we've been taught, all our guidance on frequent training courses, everything I studied in my promotions exams is all wrong.

It's all wrong, because "ripped off driver" on the "MoneySavingExpert" forum said it is.

You're right - that really will give them a laugh.

    Goodbye.

With all due respect if you are a serving officer but I think you have proven why a lot of people have lost respect for the Police. I understand you were pointing out that removing the invoice from a car that did not belong to you could be seen as theft.

However you went on to advocate that you would expect a Police officer to nick you for doing so, then to state that if somebody questioned their arrest their "attitude" would be tested. I would think any right thinking Police officer would rather his time be taken up with more serious matters.

I don't know if you have looked at these so called parking charge notices, but the only reason this wording is quoted is because its on official Penalty notices. With the sole intention of making them look official.

It seems to me that you are defending these companies and the right to what they are doing. We hear many stories here, and on other forums about incidents involving criminal acts with parking companies and clamper's, and see very little action from the Police.

Your intentions may have been to clear up the act of theft of these invoices. However by advocating the arrest and prosecution for doing so, I don't think helped you or the Police.

Just my opinion but there you have it!:)

OSB. Can you give your opinion on the recent case where a clamper towed a car, got DVLA to change ownership the same day and sold it. All before the correct owner had the chance of recovering it.

I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • I think it is a wind up. I know the police are not the sharpest tools in the pack but this is ridiculous. With bastions of deceny and commonsense like this patrolling the streets keeping us safe we have no fear ...

... as long as we are not caught disrespecting unsolicited paperwork on cars, when we can expect the book to be thrown at us.
