How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on... when in your heart, you begin to understand. There is no going back. There are some things that time cannot mend... some hurts that go too deep. That have taken hold.

    Congratulations and very well done.
Blind as you run...aware you were staring at the sun.

And when no hope was left inside on that starry starry night.

Bit more subdued now, having finally plucked up courage to tell my boss this afternoon - he didn't take it too well :( and spent all afternoon giving me the guilt trip...

    Congratulations :)

Don't let them spoil it for you, like you said your future was uncertain with the company, you did what you had to do and went and looked for another job.
One day I might be more organised...........

  • lil_me - thank you!!

They've now said my future was "always guaranteed" as any negotiations they're going into it have made it clear that the staff's situation is safe.

They're living in la-la land. If I owned an accountancy firm and wanted to buy another firm, I don't think I'd want their staff, who I'd not recruited and might not even like...?

They're just trying to make feel guilty.

    (and succeeding, gaaaah  )

Sod him princess, if there's one thing I've learned in the last 18 months it's this - don't let any git put you down and you make you feel bad about yourself, especially when you are trying to do better for yourself and improve your situation. I've been as low as I can possibly get, partly due to other people but I'm ready to stick 2 very large fingers up and welcome them all to bring it on.

2007 is going to be MY year and I wish you all the best in making it yours too

Would that be because you're out of it and safe and he isn't?

Ha ha ha ha ha! Take that, and sell it as "rose fertilizer".

You would want some of their staff. But it's exceedingly unlikely that you would want all of them. And this negotiations thing...

Don't let them rain on your parade - you've done very well.

  • Thanks guys... they've made me feel so bad that it's really taken the wind out of my sails (ashamed to say I haven't been in to work today, I phoned them and said I needed time to think).

I felt so bad this morning that I was ready to go in and tell them I'd changed my mind and was staying! There are only 3 people where I work and one of the guys had a heart attack last week (on the day of my interview, which puts things in perspective a bit doesn't it) so he's going to be off for a while, and it's our busiest time. And now this.

Aaaaargh. Why do I have to feel so guity about this! It's my life after all!!!

No! Go! Do you think they'd feel guilty if you were given a p45 and they weren't?

No. It's going to be their busiest time. If they had that much loyalty to the staff - they wouldn't have sold out.

Exactly. You will have regrets. Doesn't matter if you go or stay - you will have them. But it is your future, and if you don't go this time, will you ever?
