Help im being sued!

He acted with negligence, and you took the necessary step to warn him and other people about your dogs.
Doesn't your FIL have tenant insurance? If so, it should cover him.
Don't feel bad about your FIL, I am sure he understands the situation.0 -
I guess you know who killed your dogs then. What a shame9/70lbs to lose0
-
So you 'knew of' the guy? (as per the opening line of the story). How?
Sounds like he killed the dog out of revenge. I'd personally bury him in my garden if I was convinced someone killed my dog.
You have signs all over the gates. I dont think you should get in any trouble. They are fishing for money, trying to scare you. Otherwise, what's the point in having dogs if they are not allowed to protect your house. May as well just give trespassers a free reign to do whatever they want, otherwise we could get sued. I dont think the UK has gone down the American route of everyone constantly suing each other just yet.0 -
I still don't understand why if he was trying to get his aeroplane he felt the need to enter your house?
I would be highly suspicious that 6 weeks later a dog dies of anti freeze poisoning....... I bet the Op couldn't identify where it had come from either
Good luck with this OP I hope justice prevails0 -
if someone tried to sue me for my dog biting them, and then poisined my dog i would destroy them. like i would tie them to the front of my friends Bowler Wildact and do the course of the paris-dakar while throwing bricks at the back of their head the entire way. Lord help him if he toy were to land in my garden again0

Generally speaking, there is an implied right of access for those engaged on 'legitimate business'. Recovering lost property may well be covered, although asking permission first is politic. The landowner should write to the aero club withdrawing that right, thus making any entry onto the land trespass.
For the future ...
This person is obviously extremely nasty, so be prepared for further attacks, particularly when his sleazy, shyster-lawyer legal action falls apart.
With that in mind, report the poisoning of the dog to the police and produce the vets reports when you do so. Make sure it's all officially recorded.
The police will draw the obvious conclusion, even though they won't feel able to say so. Thus, if anything else happens in the future (gates and fencing vandalised, mysterious fire in an outbuilding, car scratched overnight), there is a track record and they will know who to go and see about it.
