I don't know how to find out what tariff I'm on. Does it say on the bill somewhere?
Welcom to the forum BTW.
In small writing on bill page 3 inside the boxes.
And don't be afraid to ask Edf. When I called this morning the phone was answered in less than a minute.
Regarding not wanting a standing charge, unless you are a very low user it makes no difference because with "no standing charge" the "standing charge equivalent" is built in to the cost and number of the primary units.
Find out your typical annual consumption and trust a Consumer Focus accredited comparison website. Beware "deferred discount" tariffs if you don't understand the circumstances you could forfeit a £100 discount.0 -
I know this may sound very stupid to you but I'm afraid I don't know how to find out what tariff I'm on. Does it say on the bill somewhere? And I'm afraid when I tried to put my annual kWh into a comparison site it said my usage was too low for it to work. Any advice would be much appreciated and please forgive me for being so stupid.
It may say it on the bill. EDF Standard plan or something similar.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Look on the web at EBIco there is not standing charge, what use you pay for.0

Nine posts, all spamming Ebico, it's getting tedious. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Have you considered changing your gas cooker to an electric one then getting rid of your gas supply completely? When I had PV solar panels installed a couple of years back I swapped out all my gas appliances. Electricity is quite a bit more expensive, if you are paying for it, but free if you are generating it yourself.0

I've taken on board all your tips but what sort of capital outlay are we talking about here? Including the solar panels and all the new electric appliances etc? A ball park figure?0 -
I think the OP would have sorted out their problem, having been discussed 2 years ago. Unfortunately, I doubt they would see your message, which is a shame.0

I have no gas appliances but a gas supply, for years British Gas had no standing charge so I had zero bills. Now they have started charging I don't want the supply cut off so I am going to be VERY CHEEKY and swop to the only one now that has no standing charge which is EBICO. No doubt it will back fire on me and they will send an estimated bill for £300 or something. When I send the meter reading of 00000 there will probably be errors too.0

Whilst I don't blame you for doing this, this sort of occurrence if it becomes common enough will only grind Ebico's business plan into the dirt. That's why it's a bit of a risk them being just about the last one standing when it comes to not charging a standing charge - the fear is it will just drive very low profit/NO profit customers their way. It will be interesting to see how Ebico react should this prediction turn out to be correct. Would they ever consider charging a standing charge??0 -
Every customers with zero or even very low usage is a loss maker for Ebico. The energy cartel bang on about only making 5% profit of only around £50 which included high usage and high earning (for them) customers, Ebico are lumbered with low users and Zero users and they don't charge a standing charge!
Something will have to give, its just a question of when.0
