Equifax credit file & £17 cashback problem. HELP!

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum.
I've visited Equifax for my free credit file, as suggested by Martin in his latest email, using topcashback to get the £17.
All forms completed but I received an email from them claiming the order couldn't be completed, and to call customer care (at 5p a minute).
I did have some problems when completing the forms but went back and finished them. I'm now worried I'm going to be charged once the month's free subscription is up. Help!

Life's what you make it....
"I've got one, two, three, [STRIKE]four[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]five[/STRIKE]... senses working overtime..", XTC.
Life beyond voluntary work scares me, but what else is there?

OK, I've attempted to register again and it's now claiming that the username I used originally already exists.
Therefore, they now have my details and so could be charged at the end of my month's trial. Damn!Life's what you make it....

Just make sure you cancel the subscription before the 30days are up. You might not get the cashback but you can make sure you are not charged anything.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

I did this too earlier, but I rang them from work. When you ring, they ask a few questions to verify you (i'm guessing here) against your credit information. For me they asked if i had any CCs, overdrafts etc, and if i have a phone contract. Then they ask you to submit photocopies of (a) a bill in your name and (b) an id (passport, driving licence etc). I did mine online, instructions are at:

In all honesty though, it all seems a bit dodgy. The questions they asked could, theoretically, be used to put together a credit rating, and sumbitting docs through a form that was plainly built without this in mind seems quite dodgy to me - if they won't even spend the money to get someone to build a proper facility for submitting sensitive information then what kind of an operation are they?
It'll be interesting to see if the £17 ever shows up to, I've read bad things on here about that cashback website.0 -
Feedback on the Equifax deal on Topcashback's site is bad! Don't know why Martin has recommended it without researching first!
No-one seems to have received their cashback so it looks like a waste of time unless you want the free credit report.
However, I can confirm that both Topcashback and Equifax are good.:j
Topcashback is excellent. Ok the odd transaction doesn't track properly and you get nothing. But I only use it for things I'm buying anyway & I have received over £800 so far.:T
I get the Equifax service free as I have a Capital One credit card (1% cashback too!) and it is very good.:)0 -
I got told to call a number at 5p a minute too. Pain in the !!!.0

Same here and I don't want the trouble of supplying info - as done by briankelleher.
So I want to cancel my subscription immediately - who do I contact, how and on what number or email address?
Martin should have mentioned this as it's sure to cost somebody some money.0 -

Need to know this too. Got the email to say ring this number... there is a free phone number but I can't see cashback tracking as it didn't work via online so might as well just cancel.0 -
Cashback tracking fine for me: http://screensnapr.com/v/1jJzfF.jpg
I already had an account as I'd signed up in 2009 for a 30 day trial + cashback so I just signed in and ordered as normal.0 -
These equifax people are pretty useless. Whatever company does their post code checking has our building as the old number of 52-54 blah road, whereas we've been 54 blah road for a year now. Most companies have no problem with this, but equifax would only allow me to use 52-54 when signing up. Then when i send my bill (with my address as 54), they declined my membership, and it took half an hour on the phone to fix it.This "deal" is going to end up costing £17 of my time before it all gets sorted out!0

I too just tried to open an Equifax account I wanted to check my report anyway as using the credit card tool on confused.com to see if any better credit cards options might be available to me, I felt that there may be something I am unaware of as it suggested that I would only have a 60% chance of getting a vanquis card, which has to be the worst of all cards! I know that the was nothing wrong with my credit about a year ago when I checked before applying for and getting a barclaycard and no other changes have taken place other than I'm now in full time work, rather than on benefits, surely my options should have got better not worse? Any way back to the point, I also got asked to phone them which I can't do until monday, and they asked for my address covering more than 6 years in the past, the previous address to one I moved into just over 6.5 years ago to be exact, why would they want that info? Any how I guess I'll phone them monday morning and tell them to shove their trial and go and have a look at credit expert again, I've already used my free trial so I'll have to pay, but I'd rather that than continue dealing with such a poor company. while looking for other people with problems on the net (something I wish I had done before starting the sign up) I came across this - http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/discussion/equifax/1223448/0
