I got failed for a cracked number plate. The same cracked plate that passed the previous two years. (Craigavon)

Can you confirm it failed solely for a cracked number plate?

Can anyone who has had an MOT in the last while advise if they ask for the V5 - mine due soon & can't find the darn thing - I have a print of the appointment with the VIN, etc. on it & last years MOT disc.

I think with the use of the new computerised systems they dont need it. Previously they used it to confirm chassis number. Now the chassis number is on their systems

Yeah, it's on the print out (I only had to confirm the last 4 digits of the VIN plus the reg. to book, so that is certain).

Thanks to all who replied - usually I would just rock up with next to nothing & pray, however this year my dad is taking it up - don't want him getting hassle (not least as I'll never hear the end of it;)).
Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!
  • I kind of had the same issue, the VW Dealer examiner said my number plates were not standard but will pass so I got an advisory ticket, because I have had problems with the backing peeling and tarnishing I shelled out for some 3D carbon gel plates which are street legal and look very nice, however the year before they didn't question them. I presume touting for business as it passed without fault and their plates are far more expensive than Halfords for example.

PS: sorry for using this thread as a way of asking a question but how does one start ones own thread on this forum, I have looked all over and cant find instruction on how to create a post or a thread - answer by either direct contact through this forum or on this thread would do (than you)
