Neighbour had his car failed for the headlight not being bright enough, took it back in next day with the same bulb and it passed. Easy £18 for them

Did they clean the headlight glass in between tests ?

The head light alignment and brightness test is computerised and not open to human interpretation, I failed a few years ago for a misaligned lamp, it was only slightly out but the examiner said when"Computer says no" there is nowt they can do:o

I got it aligned and passed next day on a re test of only the lights;)
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:
  • He didnt do anything, he took it to the garage when he got home and they said there was nothing wrong with it take it back in

this has got much stricter lately to facilitate the proliferation of Automatic Number Plate readers eg speed cameras etc.

Yep totally agree with the speed bump theory as I had mine set by my mechanic before the test, I think I hit a pot hole before getting to the test centre:o I blame that, the mechanic said he would take the £18 retest fee off my bill, but it was hardly his fault.

Can anyone who has had an MOT in the last while advise if they ask for the V5 - mine due soon & can't find the darn thing - I have a print of the appointment with the VIN, etc. on it & last years MOT disc.
Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!

At mallusk, over the last few mot's (3 a year) I've not been asked for it at all on some occasions, been asked but didn't have it with me (told to bring it in future) and handed it to the guy who glanced at it and handed it straight back. I've never been refused a test because of the lack of V5.

    Thanks

Anyone been to Boucher Road (Balmoral) without a V5 recently?

Yes, yesterday and although I had the V5, I wasn't asked for it. In fact I've never been asked for it or the old log book either.
