Parking problems

I hope this is the right place for this. Firstly i do know that you dont have the right to park outside your own house on the road . That is not my problem. If you are disabled is there no exception ? Also i do have a drive and a dropped curb , i just cant get on it ! Someone has started to park outside my house half way over the drive way and halfway in front of the house , so there's no space for me to park out front or get into the drive. Normally its there when i get home from the hospital , i go every other day for exhausting treatment but it keeps me alive , so the last thing i want is to start having to park right down the road or search for a parking place. I get on well with my neighbours so am too polite to just park in front of theirs . I dont usually get home from hospital till after 6pm so this car has always beaten me too it. Even if they moved up a bit , if a car is there i cant the swing into my drive as its a tight entrance and my neighbours car is the other side of my drive, so i cant come from the opposite way. I know i could go door knocking but the other side of the road is flats , so i couldnt seem me going up and down all the stairs. I had this problem a while ago , different car and did manage to find its owner (they had left the car outside my house day and night for a week with a for sale sign on it) so i rang the number and tried to explain only to be told to f*** off. Is there anything i can do ? or do i just have to put up with it ?

If you did not have a drive you could get " disabled" marking on the road, if you were entitled to such a thing. You can ask the council to paint a white line in front of your dropped kerb/drive. Doesn't stop people but reminds the idiots not to park there. If a person obstructs you from leaving your property, by means of their parking, then call the cops.0 -
agree, if the are blocking your drive, it's an obstruction and you can call the police.
have you tried a note on the windscreen?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Or buy a traffic cone?0

I could be wrong, but I was advised by somebody at my Neighbourhood Watch Meeting (and this was also confirmed by my local councillor) that you can park in front of a drive if it is empty, but you can't actually block somebody in if there is a car there.
If thats the case, then it means that they can park there. Maybe you should try and have a word with them.0 -
Our car parking is all shared here but a disabled neighbour has just had the Space closest to her home painted up and marked as disabled, I would presume she contacted her local council about this, maybe worth a try.
It is frustrating my dad has just had the White lines added outside his house as even tho he parked on his drive people kept insisiting on parking outside it and then blocking him in, this has detered people and I know he did see the council for this,0 -
It is a breach of the highway code.“DO NOT PARK in front of an entrance to a property” - Highway Code point 217
It seems that certain breaches of the code are eligible for fixed penalty notices from council/police. But there appears to be some debate online about whether it is an offence to block at all or merely to block a car already in the driveway (I suspect this may be an urban myth).0 -
I think in the first instance you have to leave a note on the car explaining politely about your disability and the fact that you're having trouble getting into your driveway. I know you had a bad experience last time but not everyone is like that. Failing that perhaps contact a disability organisation to see if they can advise on parking help?
At the minute it sounds like you're really letting yourself get upset and you're feeling victimised, I think for your own sanity you need to start taking action.0 -
Or buy a traffic cone?
Waste of time they get moved. We have cones people just move them or steal them. Its an offence to block a driveway the police can be called and if poss they can contact the driver and ask them to move the car. Load of hassle though. Shame people cant look round when they are parking sure they would like it done to them?:footie:0 -
