Orange PAYG Dolphin

Just bought a San Francisco on Orange Dolphin at the end of December and had to put £20 on when I bought it. I bought is because I may be made redundant at the end of March and wanted to treat myself now. I also love gadgets!

I have a work Blackberry phone which is my main phone -TBH I very rarely make personal phone calls or texts and on my old personal Virgin mobile, £10 will last 6 months !!!

My plan was that I top up in one month and get that month internet free and then the next month (or more) I use up my balance and so on.

I have put on a data monitor on my phone and am quite shocked as to how much data I could use. (This is my first smartphone.) In 18 days I have used 65% of my data allowance (100MB). I know that I can switch the data off and use Wifi and I also know that it is still an novelty and I will use a a lot more data 'trying' things.

BUT

I am finding it difficult to find out how much I will be charged:
A. Once I go over my 100MB within the month
B. The next month whenever I use data.

I have seen quoted 'a maximum of £2 a day' but the website and the free Orange mag are very vague. Presumably also there will usage limits?
Ditch 100 in January Challenge 100/100
Ditch 100 in February Challenge 114/100
Ditch 100 in March Challenge 100/100
Ditch 100 in April Challenge 75/100

Once you go over your monthly limit it will be uptp £2 per day. You need to top up each month. From Oranges T's and C's

Any unused part of the bundle will not rollover to next month.

  • Sorry, I know that the bundle will not roll over but the remaining cash balance will and I will be charged per phone call, text, etc.

Thanks for the document, that is exactly what I was looking for. The list of standard charges will be what I will pay the month after I top up.

maximum daily charge for mobile internet browsing* £2
    * Subject to a 25MB per day cap. Calls are charged per minute.

In the Extras menu there is this option.
    50MB UK mobile internet 1 day 2p/MB WEB 1
So I am presuming that in the month I haven't topped up I would be better off buying the above extra rather than just using the internet and being charged up to £2.

    OR

buying the month option at the start of the month.
    250MB UK mobile internet 1 month 2p/MB WEB 5
As the maximum I would be charged (if I didn't go over 250MB) would be £5

So it looks like the second option would be best.

  • Unlock the San Fran and stick a GiffGaff sim in. Free internet until end of Feb and pay 8ppm & 4p text. Or buy a goodybag for unlimited internet and less worries of being charged extra for data.
