I just watched it and was also struck by the lack of any male input even at the wedding.... how strange they are not usually backwards in coming forwards especially when there is something to say... the pair who were getting married were really nice but the mother looked more like a traveller than the travellers, her false hair looked liked it came from a Barbie doll.. it was horrendous...

  • I have been watching this too, I thought that most of the girls were strikingly pretty. Lovely long hair which wasn't false....lovely figures, I think that they only get married once and why shouldn't they have what they want on the most important day of their lives? Obviously sammywheeler will be posting up a picture of herself in her wedding dress then.....her superior self...but something tells me that we will only be able to see her toenails ..if you know what I mean...as her head will be that far up her own ---- only toenails will be visible...:rotfl:

Oh and as for them 'making their kids get false tans', go to any dancing school competitions and you will see 2 and 3 year olds with fake tan on as well, by the way....What does it matter? It allows the child to express themselves....feel special, for one day, what's wrong with that...?

Of the ones - gypsies - I have met, both romany and irish they are really nice people, they have got a strong sense of family, I think they are wrongly persecuted, and far too much. As are most people who are not 'conventional' or have a mind of their own...

Having said that there are a couple of women who parade in a shopping centre near to me who pretend to be gypsies (selling cheap tack) and they are nothing of the sort....and they threaten to put a curse on you if you don't buy...

I think it was disgusting that councils could smash up their homes...and I think that council vans we now seem to have allover the place with 'enforcement' written on, and we have 'compliance' officers from councils - these names have sinister undertones, and I know what it puts me in mind of...nazi's.

Oh and those sheep who say 'but there are planning laws,' and 'oh its not fair' well just take a look at www.rottencouncil.co.uk and see how corrupt planning departments are, and how they seem to make rules up as they go along, have no specific plan to follow regards who can do what either..Someone can do it, but somebody else can't, is the order of the day, usually challenging is met with a fog of secrecy and conflicting information...I think that you'll find money talks...All men are equal but some are more equal than others...

Also them 'bailiffs' - were they certified ones? probably not if a council use them...just a cheap looky-likey, well one time of day they wouldn't have done that as they'd find themselves tracked down and beaten or worse - and rightly so....Don't know how they sleep in bed at night after smashing peoples homes up...

That 13 year old boy was wise beyond his years, who was watching the homes being destroyed.

I may not agree with everything you have written, but I also commented exactly the same to Mrs Flyboy. I also think that they have a culture to protect and that they should be largely left alone to get on with their own lives. The racism and bigotry in this thread is overpowering and is something that everyone should feel ashamed about.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

Yes they have a culture to protect .. a culture of not paying any taxes but expecting to use services on demand ..a culture of theiving and of violence and intimidation (plenty of evidence not my bigotted opinon).

By a remarkable coincidence I commented on the traveller culture as my wife was watching this programme , then nipped acoss the road to our local supermarket ..and ended up having to assist security against a bunch of these thieving !!!!!!s.

The reason people don't want them on land near them is because of the way they choose to live their lives ..theft ..violence ..intimidation etc ..WHY the !!!! should decent people have to accept this "culture"

  • I am not ashamed of anything I have written. I have said already that my feelings towards travellers are based on personal experience in my local area, where there have been untold problems with travellers.
The content of the programme has done nothing to convince me other wise.
As a working, council tax paying, income tax paying and national insurance paying member of society, I do feel aggrieved that travellers appear to expect to get land, services etc, without having to pay for it. My rubbish get picked up twice a month, but the travellers who took over a local car park got given a council skip that was emptied twice a week. Is that fair? I may be wrong in my views, maybe travellers do pay the appropriate taxes on their earnings etc, but the impression I get is that they don't. Feel free to correct me.
  • im not taking back anything i said either. like tartantotty- i pay council tax, national insurance, car tax, insurance, bills, etc etc and i do get annoyed that ppl expect to live and not pay anything. i still completly stand by my comments that its a disgrace that they put their 6 years old in spray tan, make up and dirty dancing.
