Why would you want to take the rubbish that we eat to France?, they eat proper quality food.
No wonder they laugh at the Brits Abroad..0 -

I once took about 6 slim fast meal bars in my suitcase on the plane down to London. Maybe they looked like plastic explosives or something cos my case lock was broken in 3 places, the zip was a bit broken, the strap round it had been cut and the slim fast bars were sitting at the top instead of down the side lol. So I don't recommend taking meal replacement bars with you!Debt: Started at £4780, now at £4190
Comp Wins 2014: None yet0 -
One word of warning: never be tempted to take bananas in your luggage. They will make everything smell dreadful. Also certain types of fresh fruit and veg will lose their texture completely in flight.
I would agree with the poster questioning the wisdom of bringing your own food to France, of all places. The supermarket produce is generally of better quality than it is here.0 -
Sounds stupid, but be careful with anything with artificial colourin in. Many years ago now I know, but my father always used to smuggle the odd bit of fruit jelly into france when he went there on business (his luggage went through diplomatic channels due to security matters, although he did not) because they could not get it then! Not sure about current rules, but knowing the french it is probably best to avoid.
Agree with the idea of taking food there though - their food is incredibly expensive in the skiiing areas, although the brie is a good price and absolutely delicious! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

How about really fresh bread, proper quality butchers, fresh locally made dairy produce, fresh fruit. etc. etc.
If anybody honestly thinks that the rubbish we eat in the UK is inferior to French food, then they are on a different planet to me.0 -
thanks everyone for the replies...reason I am taking certain food is to try and cut down on eating out costs for example 35 euros for spag bol is no fun when there is 4 of you or 4 euro for a can of coke.
Thanks again0 -
My daughter and family go to the same hotel in Majorca every year and always takes some food, vacuum sealed bacon, cheese and things her two fabulous sons like. Although it is booked with the hotel they have a huge apartment across the road from it.
Like you Murgoyd, she does it to save on restaurant meals. Last year she took two more big lads and they all had a great time. they always book again at the end of the holiday. It wouldn't do for me as the hotel food is good.
When I went to Australia I had an apple with me in case of hunger pains but they took it off me at Perth airport.:rotfl:0 -
