I have glass fishbowl type clear vase which i put in black and silver glass stones in, on top of the stones are battery powered LED lights and diamantes on a string. Very hard to explain what it actually is because i made it myself.0

We have 4 of those old fashioned glass jars that hold sweets. The biggest has jelly beans, next one down has cola cubes, smaller one has soor plooms and the smallest has mint humbugs.
The sweets change as they get eaten (except the humbugs) but the sweets look pretty and tie in with the pictures in the dining room (ikea sell them, framed prints of different sweets).0 -
It's obvious from this thread that the most popular look ( therefore the one that is in fashion) is a pile of folded clothes topped off with a child's toy.
You just have to give in and go with the flow...
In the centre of our dining room table is a silver pot stand with another wooden one sitting on top of it, on top of this is the salt and pepper mills.
My s-i-l has nice coasters and placemats that are kept in the middle of the table when they're not in use, they came with their own fancy basket to hold them.:)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

That sounds unusual and nice. Might consider the home made route if I can't find anything just right. We have 4 of those old fashioned glass jars that hold sweets. The biggest has jelly beans, next one down has cola cubes, smaller one has soor plooms and the smallest has mint humbugs.

Sounds lovely but I couldn't do that. This is the year I'm supposed to be losing all my flab.Herman - MP for all!0 -

Glue the jar lids shut? Then, of course, hide the hammer....Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0 -
Whats in the centre of my table varies a lot. Mid week, its often just me eating at it....so this week I've put a huge pot of narcissi, whch would be totally impractical if had friends over or two of us here....its VERY large. LOL
Often its a plain glass candle stick and a chunky candle.
At breakfast when we have overnight guests I have a covered bread basket which I fill with bread/toast/muffins/croissants or whatver, and that goes in the middle.
In autumn I put pumpkins in the middle.(thats my favourite I think.
)
I NEVER let people use it as a ''putting place'' as stuff builds up and becomes a nightmare.
My kitchen table on the other hand is the junk zone from hell0 -
I filled a glass vase with purple baubles in for christmas - l think it looks nice so its staying there all year.
All the paperwork that was on the table is now on a chair next to it!!At least the fish fingers are still frozen, that's what I keep telling myself (Truly Madly Deeply)0 -
Two daleks and a globe.
We like it anyway!
And if we run out of conversation over dinner, the daleks talk when you press buttons on them! You lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....
*I have done reading too*
*I have done geography as well*0
