Preparing for Spring!!!

I'm loving his thread. :j
I sorted my seeds at the weekend and know what to plant when now and I saw the first snowdrops in the churchyard yesterday. Yes, somethings coming, and it could be spring!0 -
I'm glad you all like this thread
I thought we could do with something cheery but I hadn't actually noticed that the Its Tough thread had been moved until someone mentioned it here!!!
Intuititive timing I guess
For the record; We don't want to get moved to Greenfingers as its not a gardening thread but a Preparing for Spring thread which, inevitably will involve some gardening but lots of other things tooRecycling plastic milk cartons, toilet rolls and various other vessels for OS seed trays for instance :rotfl: If we can place an OS slant on each of our posts then I guess we will be allowed to remain here.

What a cheerful thought, spring on the way, I always perk up when the days start to get longer. I'm going to have to be really organised this year as not just got the spring cleaning and preps for the garden to sort but also excitingly got number 2 arriving so will need to decorate the attic room for DD to move up into. We're going to do her a Tinga Tinga room from CBeebies so have printed out the colouring in sheets from their website to scale up and trace onto the walls then going to use tester pots to colour them in. That way I can just sit and do a little bit at a time. OH might have to learn how to plant out seedlings though as by the time a lot of things will be ready to go out I might not be able to bend that far!0

What could I use to label my plants in the garden? Yeah labelled lolly sticks but I haven't got any. Any freeby household OS ideas you can share?
ooooooh I know cut up yoghurt pots with permanent inkweight loss so far: 6lbs
clothes neutral in £2011: fund.. £13.23
virtual sealed pot member # 99: £5.030 -
Lovely idea for a thread Frugal, thanks for starting it.
I was just thinking today how it will be lovely when it's mild enough to have the windows thrown open all the time.
I've got lots of cleaning and decluttering to do so I think that fits in nicely with preparing for Spring. Any veg growing will be limited to later in the year - some salady stuff in containers - as I will be moving. How soon can I grow herbs on a north-facing window sill I wonder, could start that sooner maybe.Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

Thanks frugal. You were quick off the mark
going into spring costs much less than going into winter, less energy use and more time spent outside. Lovely!0 -
Washed the main body of the sofa covers. Just cushion covers left to do.
TIDY TIDY TIDY - sadly always a huge backlog here
Clean windows.
Paint walls - we have a few different creamy colours so shall mix them into a large batch of one shade.
Plan planting for our 2 half plots, start seedlings in loo rolls and also the coffee cups Mr has recycled from his office.
Clear and tidy garden ready for the redcurrant and peach tree from my uncles (he is moving). And build new fence.
Make new blinds from curtains given to me.
Make conservatory suitable for summer (tidy etc).
Reassess wardrobe - alter, clear out etc.
Ugh - and that's just for starters.Put the kettle on.0 -
Hello all
I must have been affected by that big yellow thing in the sky today.:)
I have started getting all the lighter clothing out of the wardrobe and getting it washed and ironed, ready for the warmer days.
It now looks like it will be frosty for the next few days. so the woolies will be cluttering the wardrobe for a bit longer:mad:
Why do I never learn?:oSMILE....they will wonder what you are up to...........;)0 -
