I guess only time will tell whether the 'block' is effective.
BTW I agree 100% with having a 'chat' with said teenager to explain and reason in first instance. Been there, done that ... nothing changed!!
I applaud your actions. I think all childen should have restricted access or the pc actually physically in the room with a parent.

My 17 year old daughter is the same - constantly on Facebook, Tumblr, Formspring...... She's supposed to trying to pass As levels. There is no way she is discussing schoolwork on these sites. I have the Hub set so that her Internet cuts off at 21.30 but before that she can do anything. Even if I managed to restrict these sites, she'd access them on her phone. Aarg!0
