LOL... well, some parents do stand over their children while they surf. As in all things, it's a question of balance I guess. We never get it 100% right.
There's some user-friendly (not NetNanny) stuff out there but I think this needs to be put on my son's machine.
Am looking at a managed network switch too ... head is hurting!
Thanks again.0 -

Oh, using the Netgear router settings seems to work. However, it won't allow me to schedule when the content is blocked. It says it will, but the settings seem a little crude.
Still digging!!0 -
keyword blocking per schedule, then set a schedule!!

Due to the number of free and easily accesible proxy services available, I can't see how what you're doing is going to be an effective solution to your problem.
Are you sure that during homework time your child isn't communicating with classmates to discuss work etc?0 -

Thanks ... it's working!
Netgear will block the internet between certain times. However, it will only allow one other IP address to be excluded from this. This is a problem as other members of family will need access during the 'blocked' time. Not sure there's a way around this.
Still googling!!!
Thanks for your patience.
I guess only time will tell whether the 'block' is effective.
BTW I agree 100% with having a 'chat' with said teenager to explain and reason in first instance. Been there, done that ... nothing changed!!0 -

Good point and well put. Trust me, I've looked at this long and hard before considering this option. The distraction is real.
Not sure about the techie point. If someone has a more robust solution, then do please shout.0 -
