Hi Folks
Just a quick update on the recent forum downtime last Saturday (15th Jan) and the changes.
The majority of this work was to provide the ability for us to improve our rating system (currently known as like / likeability ) for our users. We had found that our Like button wasn't being used quite as often as we'd hoped, whereas our Thanks button is used extensively. After some discussion it made sense to us that the Thanks button should, for the initial post only, be linked to our rating system also to give us a better response.
We are currently in a period of monitoring the effect this change has had, and if it proves to be as progressive and positive as we hope it will, our intention is use it as scope to develop ratings as a multi faceted highly (much more) useful tool for our forum.
On a side note, the communication to you guys, in advance, on the above could have been better. We hold our hands up and hope the potential benefit of our efforts are worthwhile.
Hope this helps.

Puzzling to me that this appears to make asking questions likeable but answering them not. Is it intended to encourage creation of new topics? Or perhaps for boards where the first post is some sort of offer rather than those that are question and answer oriented?0

I've got to be honest and say I really don't like the new system, as there are so many on the standard view that have high likeability when the deal isn't that good. This one for example is store specific, maybe only one store , has seven thanks, and yet has 4 bars on the likeability scale. I don't think this is a good indicator of a good deal0
