Garage air pumps
tgon
I've tried seven garages this morning before I could find one with a working air pump - and that was at Asda! And that one was dodgy. Most were broken or vandalised for the coins, which, at 50p a shot is probably most attractive to opportune thieves! (That is, stealing with intent rather than the garages charging these rip-off prices!)

I suppose it's a price they pay for their greed, seriously, 50p for air!?I've tried seven garages this morning before I could find one with a working air pump - and that was at Asda! I refuse to pay 50p for air if I've bought a tankfull of petrol from the station. Takes the !!!! really.0 -
Get a good electric pump and keep it in your car.."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0

I do have some *slight* sympathy for garages regarding air - compressors are bloomin' expensive to buy and maintain. But I agree, 50p a shot is probably a bit steep.
Anyhow, be that as it may, that's one reason I bought the foot pump in my earlier link. Basically I'm a tight-fisted git, and that pump was less than a fiver when I bought it. I've still got it years later, great for car tyres, bike tyres and the numerous kids' footballs etc. that constantly need inflating :-) It's also a lot more convenient to check and inflate your car tyres on a Saturday morning in the comfort of your own driveway :-)0 -
We've always done tyre pressures for free at our tyre fitting centre. If you can't find a petrol station one that works, or you object to paying 50p, drop into your local tyre depot and see if they do the same as us. It also stops you having to get your hands dirty!Would LOVE to win:
A hamper - any sort! A goody bag - any sort! A UK mini-break. A year's supply of something foodie. Anything Sci-Fi related

50p a shot, have you tried Tesco lately?
£1 a shot to use it there, Waitrose & Sainsburys are normally free0 -
Do you refuse to pay for booze at Tesco if you've already bought groceries?I refuse to pay 50p for air if I've bought a tankfull of petrol from the station. Takes the !!!! really.
Seriously though, get a pump. Mine cost £20 and the whole family uses it. Must have saved a fortune if it's now 50p a go.0 -
Buy your own pump or at least your own pressure guage. In my experience, most garage pumps are overpriced and inaccurate.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
