I agree with that, but as 2010 has said if Sony are being unscrupulous with their promotion then they too are lacking morals

It is not fraud if you changed your mind and unless one is stupid enough to incriminate themselves I don't see how they could prove you purchased with the intention of returning the item.

If I understand the laws correctly, I believe it is fraud if you knowingly make a gain out of a contract without the other party knowing about it.

cheers, but Im still lost, i dont see how thoses comments answer the point i made, if the OP is getting a full refund from amazon regardless of how much the product was over inflated and an additional 14.89% from Sony, how is it just his own money back?

Nobody knows if he will get a FULL refund from Amazon.

I can`t see why Amazon would give any refund if the goods are OK and not faulty.
Furthermore I would imagine Amazon did/do know about the vat back offer as they were the ones that were "collecting the vat back" for Sony.

The proof of the pudding is if the OP gets on with it and tries to send the laptop back and then comes back on here and tells us the outcome.

Somehow I don`t think that`s ever going to happen.
    End of story.
