Is there ever any need to buy a pay and display ticket?

  • I loathe PPCs who think they can con people with Mickey Mouse 'fines' as they are dishonest and unfair. For similar reasons, I diasapprove of people who think that they can park their cars free of charge in any private car park of their choosing. Its all about ethics and standards.
Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!
  • ignoring PPC letters is ok, as they are dishonest and immoral, but militantly parking wherever you like, and depriving landowners of legitimate business makes you a bit of a knob.

any judge would look upon that very negatively indeed were any of these cases to be brought to court. if the charge to park is fair, then pay it. if the charge for overstaying is disproportionately unfair, ignore it.

there was a recent scottish case whereby a man parked every day at mcdonald's, and was forced to pay a couple of grand in compensation.

Any chance of a link to this please?

Really? Linky please, haven't heard of it and it sounds a daft judgment.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Yes as soon as I found it I thought oh its a Perky bonus! Either a set up or a Judge did find that the guy was taking the pi$$. It does however show that if you do take the wee wee and you are taken to court you may well get a Judge who sticks on on yea!!:D

not to my knowledge, locally at least.

was just to illustrate to the OP that simply refusing to pay for things does not equate to "moneysaving".

I think most of us here agree with you. Silly parking tickets should be ignored, but not many promote car park abuse.;)
