New Contract Cooling Off Period

I have just upgraded my package with BE from their value package to their unlimited package. They have started a new 12 month contract.

However, I have found a much better deal elsewhere and asked them to cancel the account as I am only 3 days into the new account.

Their reply was

"We would like to inform you that unfortunately your recent package change, does not add a new cooling off period.

You are now a Be home member, and you have 12 months contract period with us."

Surely a new contract would include a cooling off period?

Not if you called them and asked for the upgrade.

The "better" deal you found may be cheaper but very few ADSL packages offer better performance and support than Be. (By very few I mean I can't think of any - Be are the gold standard)
  • The better deal is with O2 as I have a mobile contract with them, O2 and BE are the same just with a lower price.

They operate on the same network but the packages have different terms and have different support centres.

Tough - too late! You should have read their terms and conditions before upgrading, as you have now started a new 12 month contract see here
You may transfer from any of our Be products to another at any time by requesting a transfer online from the member centre or in writing (by email, fax or letter) whether before or after your Service has been activated. If you move to a package which has a connection fee then that connection fee will be payable at the time you move. The commencement date of the provision to you of the Services will be deemed to be the start of the new minimum term period of the package that you move to.
What was your actual broadband speed before and after the upgrade?
