Roni Hand Car Wash - Gave my car away

I have not "slated" the car wash on review I have given facts! Not once have a I said the service is poor or anything to that nature.
I have stated what happened to me and feel I should, I dont want anyone to go through what I have been through the last few weeks! So I making my infomation public. I will also add that I asked the company if they minded me going to public as it may help the case.
The company said they do not mind so I did.
Anyway I have to say I have been a website developer for around 15 years and NEVER came accross such a great forum. Thanks to you all for your feedback.
The good news - Friday I bought a new car so back on track
(skint but back on track)
My new way of looking at the whole situation now is "what if my car was not given away and I drove back home that afternoon and had a head on crash?"
So happened for a reason I would like to think. I will be very happy to get all the money back I have spent and then I will NEVER get my car cleaned again. Think I will buy a jetwash system at weekend :-)0 -
I know of Roni's and will never go again.
Send Mr Merc (at the Company's registered address) an itemised statement and final demand for the money. If he ignores it, hy don't you visit moneyclaimonline and apply for judgement on the amount. If it's less than £5000 (do check) then it's small claims and should not be a tedious process. If you've got a crime reference number then he can hardly dispute his company is not at fault. Getting a CCJ against his company is far more harmful than paying you.0 -
Ben - thanks for the headsup.
I WAS going to use Roni's at Xscape or the one on V4, but having read this I will now be wary of getting my car valeted anywhere!
Mined Ewe, I have heard good things about the boys at Wolverton (Murco Garage, Stratford Road) but after this I will not be letting my car out of my sight.
BTW don't take your car to Mr Clutch in Granby (next to Screwifx) - my citroen is poorly because of them.

I read this in the local paper a week or so ago, and have just seen this post. I'm not a user of car washes, but have told everyone I know to steer clear of them from now on.
Any update on it yt? I really hope this works itself out for you! This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -
I have bought a new car and had to claim on my home and car insurance. The company are not paying out as they want to be sure this is not a "scam" !! . Now I have all my ougoing costs for hire car, insurance excess fees, and deposit on new car i have sent a letter to the carwash asking for payment/reply within 7 days.
If I do not get any reply I will file a claim for the amount.
:-(0 -
If they have any sense, they will pay up, as word will soon get around very quickly and it will cost them a lot more in the long run than what you're asking them for!!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Yes, that is right way ben, you did send the letter Special/recorded delivery didn't you? And you have a crime reference number don't you? The court is not going to look kindly on them when they already drove you to the police station to file the report!!0

Yeah I have got all those things - i guess just a case of waiting now and see what happens.0

Ben it is really important that you don't file a claim without discussing it with your insurers first. For two reasons:
1. You may well have legal cover that will cover this, that will mean that you can have a solicitor deal with the claim for you at no cost to you. This will mean you don't have to pay the Court fee and will get a professional job done for you rather than you spending the time on it yourself.
2. Your insurers may well wish to recover their outlay in respect of the incident. If they do so this will be better for you at renewal time as they will not have paid out. If you make the claim without including their outlay you could effectively prevent them from recovering their outlay in future with adverse consequences for your insurance.
So please speak to both the insurance companies who have an interest before you take any further action.
Finally if you claim in the small claims court you will limit your claim to £5000, it is likely that all told the claim is worth more than that with the hire charges you are paying and so on, do not short change yourself.0 -
Any update yet Ben?This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0
