Netbook advice

Samsung and Toshiba are about the best value for money for netbooks. HP are good but can be a bit pricecy. I got my daughter the Toshiba NB200 over a year ago and it's still going strong - and she's a student, with all the accompanying rough treatment that entails. In fact I have had 4 Toshiba laptops / netbooks over the years and they have all been reliable. Get a decent neoprene case for it as well.0

Another thumbs up for the Samsung netbooks.
Bought my NC10 (the original version with 10.2 inch screen) 20 months ago and hasn't been a problem, hardly ever use the desktop or laptop now.
Don't find a problem with the screen size or typing using the keyboard.
The only other device that you might want to use with a netbook is an external usb cd/dvd player although I just network wirelessly to my desktop for playing cd/dvds or file sharing.
Yes netbooks are not as powerfull as laptops but they beat them hands down for weight and portability.0 -

^^MY MINI 210 WAS CIRCA $35 MORE THAN MY PB NETBOOK -- THE LATTER IS A LOVELY NETBOOK, BUT THE HP PROBABLY HAS THE EDGE , ESP. WITH REGARDS TO BUILD QUALITY -- WHICH IS EXEMPLARY :cool:BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

OP, would you consider a refurbished (still 12m warranty) netbook to save yourself £££'s?
Argos clearance on ebay have a few refurbs. As I say still 12m warranty and will probably be as good as new so no worries there...
Examples =
- MSI WIND U135 160GB 10IN NETBOOK @ £170 (free delivery)... The MSI netbooks are very good, I have one.
- SAMSUNG N130 10.1IN NETBOOK @ £164 inc delivery
- TOSHIBA NB250 250GB 10.1IN NETBOOK (this is a brand new one) £206 inc delivery
HTHA big believer in karma, you get what you give :A
If you find my posts useful, "pay it forward" and help someone else out, that's how places like MSE can be so successful.0 -

I find them ok, OH thinks lappy/netbook keys are not great but she touch types much faster than I do, and prefers only Dell desktop keyboards, but she manages with her N140 whn out and about at work.
Also she uses Word(2010) a lot too. Only mod I did to mine was change the memory to 2 Gb, only one slot so it means ditching the 1Gb supplied .4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Samsung N145 Netbook
Was £233.88 Now £187.10 20% Off
That's VAT free.
Previous price charged between 12/01/11-24/01/11
The Tesco website still shows it at the old price when you try to buy online. So I rang 0845 600 4411 and ordered by phone.
This is a real bargain for this netbook - which works up to 10 hours away from the mains.

Someone's got their maths wrong at Tesco's 233.88 = 194.90 + 38.98 vat ... so its more than vat free
