Hi there, looking for some advice on choosing a holiday, we have three girls, ages 8, 6, 4 and for the youngest it will be the first time abroad, and the other two were so young they cant remember even going away!
Would like just a pool holiday but if theres a nice little village or something to walk around that would be even better. People at work have suggested go all inclusive which makes sense.
Have spoken to people at work and i started checking out reviews of the hotel in tripadviser and the hotel got bad reviews - Sarigerme, turkey Holiday village, admittedly they went a few years back. So we turned our attention to tenerife, only because i remember going there with my mum and dad, it kinda reminds me of a family holiday, both me and the missus are not well travelled so can't call upon experience on where to go.
Any suggestions, Los cristianos, teneri fe
Can anyone reccomend resorts , hotels and i can look into them more closely or perhaps another country. Someone at work mentioned Bulgaria?
Also i was looking at the costs, an all includsive was about £4500 for 5!!! wow, although its in the summer holiday, one of the mums as school said to my wife that wife they always take them out of the summer holidays as its cheape,r just checked prices and its £300.00 cheaper per person.......... thats amazing, about 2 weeks between the dates!! so good bad idea to take outside school holidays!

Depends on when you are planning to go. This time of year the canaries are lovely. Travelling with kids you cant go wrong on a greek island. The balearic islands are fab. Majorca would offer a good beach holiday but with the added benefit of interesting towns to visit. You can take a train into the orange groves - went there with my family when I was your kids age (long time ago) Portugal is another good one. France is another place I would travel to with kids - variety of travel options to get yourselves there if you dont fancy paying out loads on flight tickets. hope that helps a bit.
As regards to taking kids out of school the last couple of weeks of term they do very little anyway. Focus is on sports days etc. I wouldn't worry about it and save yourself a fortune.0 -

Have you looked at the Villa Mandi in Los Cris in Tenerife?
Taking in the ages of your children I would highly recommend this place, we found it very safe and the rooms are plenty big enough. (Book a 2 bedroomed) The Thomson kids club was brilliant, you wont believe the amount of time you will get to relax!
The only disadvantage would be the walk into Los Cris and taxis work out about 10euro there and back although we found it plenty safe enough to walk there and back of an evening.
Siam Park is a must as is Loro Parc.
We have been back twice and if we can get a late deal this year we will go back again.0 -
Thanks for the replies. i've been playing with dates and months to get prices just choosing one hotel to mak eit easier, I reckon 11 nights and book it from the first of september and that way the kids only miss 5 days school. Our youngest has arthritis so she has to take a fair amount out of school for visits to great ormand street, so dont dare use the 10 days we are allowed. Although i think that will work.
still confused dot com though......Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -

My only advice is to go for a "Thomson Family", they really work hard and you will find the kids will be entertained from dawn til dusk and it includes loads of "family" activities as well. They will be begging you for them to go to bed at the end of a busy day, so you will have plenty of time for a relax and a glass of wine in the evening!:rotfl:0 -
It is tricky getting it right when you are travelling with kids, so much more responsibility. When I was young, free and single my holiday choice was decided by closing my eyes and sticking a pin in a map. Had some of the best times of my life on those trips too. Much more luck than judgement. God I miss those days

The Ardennes is quite a nice region to visit. There is a family holiday camp in the area (Sunpark I believe, but don't quote me) which has all the standard attractions that you would expect and you're within driving distance of cities in France, Belgium and Germany and maybe even the Netherlands if your kids travel well. The holiday park, to my knowledge, offers various activities such as wildlife parks, amusement parks, sports, restaurants and entertainments (kinda like Butlins, but the weather is more reliable
) and then of course the Ardennes region is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful areas in Europe with lots of scenary, woodlands, rivers and small villages to visit.
And as I say, you're within travelling distance (particularly if you rented a car) of major cities, such as Brussels.0 -
