BA flight upgrade

Check MMB every day for flutuating upgrade prices, but as others have said availability might be low. FT reports that checking in online but NOT printing your boarding pass increases your chance of an op-up (however op-ups will almost exclusively be by status priority)Legal team on standby0

Save your money, WTP is no big deal, same food as Y just a little wider seat with a bit more legroom. I would pay the £50 to bag an exit row seat instead. TBH it really should come under the trade description act BA calling it a premium product
I was just about to post the same advice.
I was fortunate to bag the exit rows for free on checking in to flights to/from BKK - although I appreciate I was VERY lucky.
To be honest, I would certainly pay the £50.00 per sector (good value if long haul) as you will get more leg room than WTP and exactly the same food.
Totally agree with your last quote regarding 'premium product'.FT reports that checking in online but NOT printing your boarding pass increases your chance of an op-up (however op-ups will almost exclusively be by status priority)
Mr.s P and I used the self check in last week for a CX flight from Singapore and despite having seats reserved, the system changed them during the process - fortunately, they were changed to business class. They were only economy tickets and although I am not a member of their loyalty programme, I am assuming my BA EC membership helped as they are in the same alliance.
Very grateful though!0 -
I've only ever upgraded on a Virgin flight, from Economy to Premium Economy. I would certainly never consider paying hundreds of pounds extra, it just wasn't worth that much. We paid £20 extra each on our BA flights last year, World Traveller class, to be sure we got a row of two rather than three and have someone else to climb over, and I considered that worthwhile. I would also consider paying a little more for an exit row seat, but that would be it.From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!0

Yes, without wanting to send people from MSE to another website, FT is an excellent resource for the frequenet (and not so frequent) flyer. The British Aiways forum in particualr at http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/british-airways-executive-club-446/ is full of knowledgeable and helpful people. Just be warned though the posts can be littered with losts of acronyms but you soon get used to it.0 -
Three weeks prior to travel they sent me an email advising of an upgrade for £180 per person to WT+
I grabbed it with both hands0 -
We flew BA to Tokyo, i asked at check in if we could upgrade and they looked at my ticket and said no(booked it through an agent)!! Once through passport control saw the BA DESK with a sign saying upgrade for £150!!!! Did it and had a very good journey!!! On the way back tried it again and they upgraded us to business for free!!!0
