I feel exactly the same about it. Also I find that (my husband loves it) the Fray Bentos Steak & Kidney's pie's the same.

    Yes definitely!!

Has anyone tried Lidls Newgate premium stewed steak, it is all meat and no fat or gristle, with very rich gravy, there is only hubby and I at home now, and it makes a quick easy meal with potatoes and veg, or even chips and peas.
I rate it higher than all he better know tinned steaks

It seems to boil down to individual taste. I personally do not fancy meat in a tin, :( but I know there are op who love it.

This thread reminds me of one on here a couple of years ago about tinned mince, it caused a lot of debate. ;)

I will have to search and see if I can find it.

I always check the "meat" percentage on prepared pies etc and tinned products even frozen fish these days as it's shocking how little is actually in some things. Though that said there one type of sausage rolls that look horrid, and only have something like 23% meat in them but we all like them (though I just can't face buying them these days). :o

if camping we used to buy marks and sparks tinned steak, this also smells like dog food when you open the tin, but it tastes lovely.

Brazilian tinned steak in gravy from Marks and Spencer definately the best :)

I sometimes use Princes Stewed Steak 75% beef, but I use it make a pie with either shortcrust or suet pastry it makes a great pie and OH and I love the gravy , the beef is tender with no fat or gristle it makes a great winter pie..

Another one here who gives this a thumbs up. I also add to boiled potatoes to make meat and potato pie.

We switched to M&S after Sainsbury's stopped doing their own brand.

But we have found that Sainsbury's was still better, probably because of the higher meat content.
