The ones I had for Egypt in September were free, however it was made clear to us that should we not return for the free booster this year then subsequent jabs for Egypt would be charged as the booster lasts a lifetime but the first jab will run out unless a booster is applied.

The issue here is a attitude, not money.

Ask to see the documents showing this policy. If they start dissembling, take it to the PCT.

Great advice.....someone is rich enough to take a mega Far East jaunt and is too tight to pay for their jabs. So the advice from everyone is 'sue the NHS bas7ards' or waste NHS resources defending such tripe.

Presumably the advice is from non-taxpayers....it's very easy to spend other peoples money [ask the gov], but I doubt of one of them would put their hand in their own pocket to pay for the OPs jabs.

Isn't it a disgrace that the NHS doesn't pay for your sunglasses!!!!!!!!!!

You sure you know what your on about?
that's not quite true for the most part of the jabs you require for some countries they are free anyway. the only thing i had to pay for was my malaria prescription. I was doing NZ Oz and Thailand.

These are the ones you get for free

typhoid,
hepatitis A,
meningitis C, and
tetanus, diphtheria, and polio

which cover the places the OP was going and should have been free.. And probably the rabies injection depending on how long you were going.Though you may have wanted a course of malaria tablets before you went too. You shouldve asked to see the nurse first and discussed with her then she wouldve understood what you needed...

Our local surgery will do basic jabs for travel, but if you are going anywhere obscure or where you will need anything but the basic inoculations, you have to go to the travel clinic which is in another town. Seems fair enough to me, at the local surgery, it's just the nurse who does it. It hardly seems unreasonable that for more obscure vaccinations you have to travel to wherever the expert in this sort of thing works.

Face it people....as a nation we have no money left!!!!!!! We have to start paying for stuff that we want that isn't essential.
