It's for Orange/T-mobile. I think they must have put the wrong email in that post, as the thread opener was talking about a debt to them.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

They are free to refuse to remove. Equally they are free to remove it if they wish.
The only thing the mustn't do is report inaccurate info on your files.
Creditors are not obliged to report info to all, or indeed any, CRAs. So that doesn't include removing entries at their discretion. That isn't inaccurate, just a commercial decision.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I have 5 old defaults on my file (all settled) and these are due to come off in about 12 months I believe. However I am currently in the process of trying to buy my parents house as my father passed away. Would it be possible to have these taken off if I asked them?Just keep swimming0

It's worth asking at least - especially as they're 5 years old and all settled. Send them a really nice letter asking if they would kindly remove them. They may say no - must may as well ask as I don't think any/many mortgage companies would accept that amount of defaults - especially in this climate.PMA - Positive Mental Attitude
