You could get a little box and type up 365 reasons why you love her/him then she would open one each day until next valentines day. I did this for my husband very cheap and very thoughtful!! the reasons can be loving, nice, funny or romantic for e.g
I love you because........... your beautiful
I love you because........... you are a fab wife
I love you because........... you have a great husband (lol)
I love you because........... you work hard
it seems hard to do but once you get started you will get 365 reasons!
good luck xx0 -
One year we'd had heavy snow and my hubby made a huge heart the size of our back yard in the snow for valentines day! http://www.flickr.com/photos/hjdx/3278114565/ It was so nice and totally free, and he did it in the dark after I'd gone to bed!0

Buy her a bottle of a certain brand of shampoo and when she asks you "what do you call this?", just tell her...."Because thats what you're worth"
If my boyfriend done that I would make him eat it! I'm not one for buying presents but I would be offended if he said I was worth a bottle of shampoo
Still, your girlfriend may love it :cool:Thanks to all posters :A0 -

Just seen the pic, that was nice
I was relieved to see he used a spade to draw the heart !!!
Sometimes us men use something else to draw things in the snow

Looking through this thread, giving little notes seems to be popular, as is baking.....so why not combine the two things by making fortune cookies?!
I've not made them myself but will give them a go for Valentines Day. Apparently they're quite easy to make and most recipes just list a few simple ingredients - things you're likely to have them at home already, so shouldn't cost much at all. You could perhaps buy some cellophane and ribbon to wrap them up in though, or a nice tin/box.
For the "fortunes" you could write reasons why you love the person you're giving them to, or perhaps ideas of things you'd like to do together....or you could perhaps even predict the immediate future by noting down things which are going to happen later that night?!!!0 -
Another creative way of giving a Valentine's message could be doing it in the style of that scene from Love Actually, where Keira Knightly's character gets a special message written on boards. She opens the door to a guy standing there holding up several pieces of cardboard with a message written on them, a few words on each board. He doesn't speak, just reveals his message by showing each card, in order, standing on the doorstep.
A funny and/or touching Valentine's message done this way could perhaps have a lot more impact and grab their attention more than simply being spoken or written in a card. If you have a portable stereo or phone/ipod with speakers etc you could also play music while holding up your boards...or even get into fancy dress?!!!
At the very least you just need a marker pen and some cardboard. If you don't have white card I guess you could just cut up some old cardboard boxes and cover it with paper or even just write on the back of some old wallpaper, if you have some leftover rolls lying around.0 -

If you're going to use that recipe I'd be sure to check out the "tweaks" people have noted after using the recipe themselves.
Good luck!0 -
or do what mrs Postie_bear has done. She phoned me at lunch time and told me to buy my own valentines card and she will sign it when she gets home.
I was taking her out for a meal tonight but have just cancelled it. I have also text her telling her she can cook her own meal. I made her a jar of memories and gave her a dvd and card, and i have received nothing.
