sainsburys leaky nappies

i bought a packet of sainsburys own nappies (not the basic ones) and used them on my son, i got half way through the packet and then had 1 leak overnight, although the nappy wasn't particluarly full i sort of wrote it off as a dodgy one,
however the next day we were going out to a party and i'd bought my son a lovely new outfit so we put him in the buggy for a walk round the town when i get him out about an hour later he was wet, the buggy was wet his vest was wet. being too far from home to go change him i had to buy him a new pair of trousers as we were just about to go to the b'day party, now i'm really miffed as he hadn't had much too much to drink to warrant the nappy to leak, and now i've got a buggy that smells of pee.

I'm going to write off and complain but not really sure what to say in the letter.

Do you normally use Sainsburys nappies? If not, then maybe they're just not suited to your son's shape? I find that Pampers don't suit us because the band rubs on my son's tummy, and Asda nappies leak. We stick to Tesco and Huggies. But other people have other preferences. I'd just put it down to experience, personally, and buy some that suit you better.

And give the pushchair a scrub.

LOL! I agree totally with Sarahg. Perhaps you didn't put it on properly, I personally don't see the need to write and complain about them. I have had 3 kids and each kid had a different brand of nappy due to body shape- and we have had plenty of leaks.

Use some Zoflora on the pushchair and it'll smell like roses :)

Annoying, maybe, but these things are sent to try us.

What would you have done if your son had spilt a drink all down his front and wet his clothes?

Just put it down to bad luck and buy different nappies in future.

hi lyndsay21, i first used those brand nappies 8 years ago and had exactly the same problem so they obviously havent changed them in all that time! (any other brand was fine though, whether cheap or expensive)

Maybe its because I'm used to explosive nappies, but am I the only one who takes a spare set of clothes along with my changing bag?

  • to be honest i never normally need a change of clothes hence why i never had any on me.

I went through a stage when the same happened to my son, it turned out he had had a mini growth spurt that made the nappy a tiny bit too small. It wasnt really visable but as soon as i went the next size up it all stopped.

i bought the new Huggies little walkers for my son but the sides of the nappy rubbed that much that i actually cut my sons skin. I complained to Huggies and they sent me a £10.00 voucher and saying perhaps my son was allergic to the material to cause a rash. I then wrote back with a photograph stating does this look like a rash as his skin had been bleeding and you could definetly see the cut. They never replied to that letter.

I ended up giving the voucher to a friend who had just had her son as the newborn nappies from huggies were great. But i personally won't be using them again.
  • I bought some Sainsburys nappies (the purple ones) a while ago, because the local Tesco had run out of my daughter's size (4+ - its only a small store) - they leaked not only wee, but poo as well! I threw about half the pack away, because of that!
