Virgin - To move or renew

Currently with Virgin for phone and internet.
Been with them since the days of Telewest and am on XL speed as we currently get fibre optic.
Currently £12.24 phone and £37.00 for XL Broadband
Am moving house soon, but new property doesnt have cable, and can only get Bband via phone/modem from Virgin.
Wondering whether to tell them I`m moving or cancel current home and sign up as a new customer at new home.
New customers get 6 months free, free install and a wireless router which I currently dont have.
Will I lose my current email addresses if I do this?
And what other cons might there be? And pros ?

You should also be getting a £17 discount.
Avoid Virgin National (the ADSL product) as it isn't very good and isn't competitive either.
Use your new postcode to check what you can get. If you see Be/O2 or Easynet/Sky then they will be the ones to check out.

£17 discount?
Please tell more0 -
The standard price for XL (20Mbps) broadband is £37 but that gets reduced by at least £17 to £20 if you take the phone as well.
VM are well known for misleading pricing and discounts and the only way to ensure you aren't being ripped off is to keep an eye on current new customer pricing excluding specials like the 6 months half price then call in if you are paying more. I'm pretty sure they do this to keep a fair proportion locked into a minimum term contract because if you accept a new discount then that comes together with a fresh 12 months of lock-in.0 -
I was with Sky and moved to Virgin yesterday with the following deal
XL 20MB BB
XL TV Package
V+ HD box
New line and rental with free weekend calls
£41 per month.
Hope that helps.Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.0 -
good info.
OK, so I`m certainly going to save money by setting up afresh at the new address.
But how will that affect email addresses?
If I cancel, will I also be canceling my current email adresses?
Or can I still access them ?0 -
I'm currently in the middle of a house move and was advised that when you move you are treated as a new customer and therefore entitled to any of the new customer deals currently available. I have managed to get a fantastic deal and even managed to get them to throw in a free of charge extra telephone point (normally about £100 or more) and also a foc wireless router as our current one is a reaaaaaaalllly old one (although it still works fine!) They've been absolutely amazing with me and I cannot fault them at this stage.0

^^^ With Virgin ?
that would be an interesting option, did you keep your old phone number ?0 -
To add virgin always offer new customer deals to existing ones. I am currently enjoying 6 months half price and been with them for years. Only thing is my contract starts again so say i was 11 months into my 12 month contract and I took an offer then the 12 months would start again (or in my case 24 months). No problem though as I had no plans to cancel.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
