yes, the keyword being "use" - as in, consciously and deliberately placing their wallet within a few centimetres of the reader.0 -
In america lots of fast food places dont require a signature or pin for low value transactions (eg subway). I thought it was great, much faster and more likely to use my card than cash, with all the hassle of fake notes and wrong change or the fact that everytime I break a note the rest of money seems to flitter away.
Get with the times people, the system really is a lot faster than a cash/chip and pin transaction. I want one and more shops to support it - this is the future.0 -

Because once the transaction has gone through it won't then accept a second payment method.
If you select cash the reader will not power up and vice versa.
You cannot pay twice in such a manner with a contactless card.0 -

Presumably though, one would have in thier wallet thier oyster ( with thier weekly prepaid travel card on) and their contactless card.

What is Barclaycard OnePulse?
Barclaycard OnePulse is a unique and innovative product that provides the convenience and speed from having three cards in one - Oyster card, Credit, Cashless. It is:- A card with all the benefits of an Oyster card
- A credit card for all your normal purchases (using Chip & PIN)
- A credit card with contactless payment, a new cashless way to pay, allowing you to make purchases of under £15 more quickly and conveniently by simply passing your card in front of a secure reader rather than typing in your PIN.

If you are paranoid (needlessly I might add), search on youtube. There are dozens of videos showing how to break the chip so it won't read anymore.

I kind of think that whilst this probobly will, indeed, disable the contactless technology, it will likely also disable your chip&pin, as well as making any retailer pretty suspicious when you try to use your card conventionally!
Not impressed!
But Barclaycard are ademant I have to have it. Only way not to is to cancel the account (tempted but I have a really good legacy cashback deal!).0 -

If you are really that worried, just be careful that you only destroy the RFID transponder and not the EMV chip0
