Out of interest what happens in 100 snipers all hit an auction in the last second, must cause a problem.

No, the messages will all be sent to ebay and the highest will win. If there is more than one for the highest amount the first one handled will win.

Obviously you cannot guarantee to win if someone places a bid for the same amount you bid first but that is something you have to balance when setting the number of seconds before the auction end that you want to snipe. Leaving more time means that you are less likely to have a bid rejected for being the same as another (or below the appropriate bid increment) whereas setting less time means that you'll be lees likely to have someone who is bidding manually place a new bid in response to yours.

If you want to run your own sniper software then JBIDWATCHER works very well
I've been using JBidWatcher for years and highly recommend it.

It also has the huge advantage that you do not need to reveal your eBay password to a third party.
