Is there a FREE Auction Sniper that works?

Hi. As I have missed out on bidding for items, have seen some clear cases of shill bidding and I am usually at work when eBay auctions finish, for most items of value, I use auctionsniper.com

It's probably prevented getting involved in a few bidding wars too, so although it costs a few quid for an expensive item, I think, overall, I've probably saved money.

My question is, does anybody know of a FREE and reliable auction sniper? [I mention the word reliable as I've found sometimes snipes don't work]. I've seen one mentioned on goofbay - is it any good?

Thanks for for any guidance

If you want to run your own sniper software then JBIDWATCHER works very well, the downside is that your computer must be left on of course.

    Use it regularly.

    I would second this.

There is an option to pay $6 a year for the 'mirror' service which makes it as reliable as any other commercial site and is probably worth using.

I use my watch and mouse, works great and costs nothing (ignoring the watch and mouse costs as they have many other uses).

Meh, why bother with a watch when you have a little clock in the bottom right corner of the screen? :-p

(surely no one ever leaves their computer do they?)

That's fine if you want to buy one thing a week and that thing ends during hours when you're able to be at your computer and you remember.

If you bid on a lot of things in one day (e.g. a collector will often find a large number of auctions ending very close together on a Sunday evening) or the auction ends in the middle of the night a sniper is extremely useful.

The clock doesn't show seconds! :D

Anyway alarm clocks and TOIL are for the rest!

Out of interest what happens in 100 snipers all hit an auction in the last second, must cause a problem.
