BT Package 5?

OK I have been with Nildram since 2006, we have an older deal that is no longer available, paying around £23pm for internet and all phone calls. On top of that we have to pay BT line rental.

Nildram has recently become Opal and our speed has dropped, Im not happy any more and am not sure we are getting a good deal.

BT sent me a flyer recently offering broadband with UK weekend calls for £5, for an extra £5 I can include unlimited UK landline calls. Its 18 month contract and reverts to £14.50 in month 19.

At face value this is significantly better than Im getting at the moment - anyone any experience of this deal?

  • The BT package you quote has a 10gb monthly usage limit so if you use more then its not for you. BT offer higher usage options and at reduced rates if you go to the BT customer options team
( 0800 800 030 opt 1) you can get same deal with unlimited broadband for £13.00 a month. plus line rental.
    Alternatively see http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange_search
to see whats available in your area from other isps
  • Hi Syko29793

Just tried to setup the package you posted (unlimited anytime calls and unlimited broadband for £13/month + line rental using the "package 5" code)
Called the 0800 800 030, went through a few options and was then told that the package 5 option does not exist. I note that option 1 on this number is if you want to request a MAC code or cancel your BB.

Tried calling the number on the letter 0800 6781582 and they said that unlimited calls and unlimited broadband costs £20 per month for 3 months and £28/month thereafter (the same package as is on their website).
Have you actually sucessfully set this package up yourself, and if so how did you get it exactly?

    Any help gratefully recieved.

    Regards

Sounds like you have spoken to BT sales and been given the standard prices. The correct number is 0800 800 030 and press option 1.This is the right option even though its says to request a mac as this option will get you through to BT Customer options team (The retentions dept) who can give you the offer.

Try as I might they won't give me it at the £13 rate because my BB is with Virgin National and as I am not threatening to leave BT they can't (or won't) offer further discounts
Will have to stick to anytime calls ang 10Gb for £10/mnth + line rental.

    Thanks for the help syco29793

I got the BT Package 5 deal via letter, and took it up yesterday. Seems a really good deal, especially as I live in a rural area and the cheapest option I had up to now was about £25 a month for broadband and calls.

I only really want the broadband, so am paying £5/month plus the one off £120 annual line rental for 10gb download allowance plus unlimited weekend calls. I think its a great deal, no connection charges or anything! Free home hub aswell, and the customer service was good (so far!). Getting it fitted next week, and previously had no land line in the house.
