Sounds like he is trying to stop his dad from spending what he sees as his inheritance to me ...I hope I am wrong.

I think the OP wants to get his/her father's house signed over into their name!

Unless your cause for concern is that your father has diminished mental competency then you have absolutely no legal right to dictate how he spends his money. Even if your father does have mental capability problems it is not particularly easy to have property or possessions signed over to you as the law is designed to protect people with mental health problems from making potentially catastrophic decisions such as signing over title deeds.

If your cause for concern is with regards to diminished mental competency then you will need to contact a solicitor who will almost certainly require medical evidence that this is the case before advising you further. If, however, you are simply upset at the way your father is spending this money then I'm afraid you're out of luck. The law does not protect the mentally sound from frittering their cash away any way they please.

you think your father has bought his grandson an expensive car, that grandson has borrowed other money off dad, and dad will be left with no money, is that right?

In which case I'd stop worrying about dad and the house and get your son to stop being a selfish git.

Thats exactly what I concluded too. Sounds like the op son has the money problems and grandad is being taken for a ride. He doesn't need to sign his home over to anyone, just to start saying NO

I would start by speaking to your son. If he is old enough to be buying a car, he should be a bit more money savvy than his first thought being he will ask grandad to cough up when he wants something.
  • ok i get it
