Appealing is a waste of time as there is no appeal ! From now on just ignore anything you get from them, except for sealed court papers which you will not get anyway. They cannot fine you, it is not a fine it is an unenforceable invoice. Do not correspond with them at all. DO NOT PAY !!

Ignore, but do send a lovely letter to the owners of Merry Hill saying that you will no longer shop there due to the PPC.

They have suffered no loss for you parking your bike in the yellow hatched area.

You sound like you have nearly fallen for it, you actually believed it was a fine? Have you read the sticky threads 'Read this before posting' and 'PPC letters, what to expect'? Near the top here:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163

You will see the debt collector 'scary letters' (meh!) which are simple to ignore when you are expecting them. You will also see the link to Watchdog in May 2010 when the legal expert showed Anne Robinson what to do with such a bogus PCN (for it is NOT a real fine).

And if you look down all the threads, almost all about private parking tickets, you will see there is another recent thread about Merry Hill already. Once you have read several threads you'll know what we know and will no longer be concerned about this trash. Honestly it is NOTHING.

Tell your friends & family about the generic scam that is private parking tickets.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi bridgewater01 - as the others have said already this is not a fine but simply a speculative invoice. Nothing more. The whole PPC business model is based on the fact that their behaviour mirrors that of councils. Fortunately they do not have the powers to go with it but hope that the approach fools you into believing that they do.

Have a look at this post - also posted today - on another thread regarding Merryhill. On it I have posted a photo of one of UKPC's signs. You will note that it does not use the words "penalty" or "fine" - because were they to do so any civil claim they may have had would be thrown in the bin and they know it. The sign doesn't actually make any mention of any sanction whatsoever other than the matter being passed to a debt recovery agent.

    Do not worry.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com
