Any tips for easiest way to clean filthy oven will be gratefully received?!

Switch it on and warm it up which will help loosen some of the dirt.

Some neat stardrops on a sponge/scourer does lots of damage :D

Ovenmate!!! gets my vote for product of this (& last!) century :D

I used Ovenmate too...I say used, I only cleaned my oven once (after having it about 7 years...) and I bought one of those liner things to go in the bottom...best money I have ever spent. It goes in the dishwasher and everything and I havnt needed to clean my oven at all since I had it.

This is the one I have, and I can honestly say it is worth every penny. You might be able to get something similar cheaper elsewhere though.

Shelly i have the non stick baking sheets they are £1 in homebargains or pound shops, they don't last as long as the lakeland ones but i have more than one. I just rinse them under tap and wipe them over when they get oven spills on them. They are also fab for using on baking trays and roasting tins and i line a baking tin with one when making Twinks hobnobs, (i flatten the mixture out in the baking tin instead of making balls then cut it into squares when it comes out of the oven). The liner makes it easy to slide the cooked hobnobs off the baking tin. You can even use the liner to line cake or loaf tins.
