Clicked on Manage wireless network Connection Properties.

There are 2 tabs - Networking and Sharing.

Under networking, TCP/IPv4 was already selected. There was nothing about default settings.

    Still can't connect!

Did you click on properties under TCP/IPv4? There would be a set of numbers...

I've been trying to sort this for quite a while now. I'm going to give up and may try again later.

Thanks for trying to help everyone. Sorry if I've tried anyone's patience :(

Can connect by a ethernet cable if need be. We just wanted to connected up my friends laptop to my broadband and avoid using a cable.

So that tell us that it is just a wireless issue. What encryption are you using and is this available on both devices?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
