Discounts with AA and RAC

the rac hve just changed its rules for the blue badge holders coverage
in its latest terms and conditions
so that any partner on the scheme does not get the same service as the bb holder
when i used to get the same cover as my oh.
i can almost see the point
but having this cover costs us a lot more as a couple than just the normal full package
(we need homestart)
and none of the 'discounts' available to everyone else were on offer to bb holders
(as the rac considered the package already a better deal)
i am not a happy bunny.0 -
I have been an RAC member for 15 years and have the 'response' package for disabled drivers and I have a Direct Debit which goes out to renew every April - last year it was £101.00.
Is what you are saying mean that even though they know I'm disabled (and with 'response' give me priority) with this cover that they would give me a discount if I phoned them? I am also a BB holder.0 -
Hi
I'm not with the RAC. But with the AA we have a 'normal' package i.e. roadside assistance, relay, home start etc and it is this package they we have been given the discount on.
Hope this helps.0 -
Thank you for replying so quicklybobbyoscar, so you have the equivelant with the AA to what I have with the RAC at £55?! That is half to what I paid last year and always goes up a few pounds each year. Perhaps I should make enquiries and move to the AA unless the RAC can reduce my membership!0

Hi,
Our membership for 2 people should have been £212ish for this coming year -we have a 'loyalty discount applied as we've been with them 25 years+ (renewal due at the end of this month). However, when I spoke to them about a discount for my husband as he is a BB holder, they applied the discount to his membership resulting the total amount due for both of us for exactly the same services is £157.53
Let's just say I was very pleasnantly surprised at this offer!!!0 -
That is very interesting. The membership I have is solely for me so with that in mind my membership after 15 years seems very high at £101.00, and this will increase again this year a few pounds!
I think I shall give them a call when I get notice through the post of my renewal in April to see whether they will give me a discount. Perhaps I should also get a quote from the AA as I don't think that being with the RAC for such a long time means anything - there isn't such a thing as a loyalty scheme!0 -
i found is to join as new every year , works out much cheaper ...the truth is out there ... on these pages !!0

Hi,
I'm really interested in the Breakdown Assistance Card, if it allows you to obtain free assistance from AA and RAC. But, where can you get it from? I've checked out many possibilities, but the only 'firm' possibility, is for ex-servicemen, through SPVA.
Is there anywhere for disabled non-servicemen to get hold of one?
Thanks0
