Well I got a refund on my delivery after 4 phone calls..I really am thinking about changing you know.I have shopped with Tesco since I left home (am now 40  )I started to use their home delivery service when you had to ring up and read out the barcodes over the phone :rotfl: anyone remember that polaver??? In this time we have had a change of delivery store as they built a newer superstore closer to us but now we have the new shiny dot com operation in Croydon delivering to us...
I heard so many people complain about the state of the produce,short/out of date items, crushed stuff but was genuinely pleased with my first few orders..I don't know what has happened since then but now I get rotting fruit and veg, pastry items with 2 days date at most and hard bread.I cannot afford to keep using them if I'm going to be throwing so much stuff away (and I HAVE to have home delivery before anyone chips in as I have 2 disabled kids)I have no other means of shopping.
    F.T.B I wonder if you're my manager..

No unfortunatly not your manager. Have you spoken to your Dot Com Manager, either on the phone or via letter? I know most people ring the Dundee number but I have said it time and time again, they either fob you off or they pass the complaint to the manager. Cut out the middleman and get straight to the Dot Com Manager, they have to take action, they cannot afford to lose customers trust me.

If you havent spoken to the manager I strongly suggest you do. There are a number of routes they can take. Your complaint will help them as they will be able to see which pickers it is that are giving out goods that they shouldnt be sending out, this way they can be re-trained if required.

The manager will also order that your order is audited before being sent to you. This means that once the picker has picked the order it is checked by either a team leader or occasionaly by the manager personally. They can then see whether the products are of the right quality, if not the picker is spoken to and the goods changed.

Im back to work tommorrow and dreading it at the moment as afetr having over a week off I know there will be a large number of customers with the same complaint as yours, however they can be worked out quickly and easily if we are aware of them.

AW shame you're not ours :D
Thanks for taking the time to reply though.I did speak to our manager on Sunday when it was late and he basically said "its only 30 minutes so far (eventually came over an hour late) and its because the van left late.." Was very abrupt and didn't really seem to care at all
I am worried about shopping elsewhere as my family have been brought up on Tesco's food..I tried Asda once and their stuff is *how can I be tactful* not to our taste :p I am on a really tight budget at the moment and 'every little bit used to help' but I'm not convinced now..

last three deliveries from tesco online:
first phoned and said I am the bottom of the road at 1.00pm (due at 5pm) can I deliver? yes ....
Next turns up 1 hour before the slot agreed
Next turns up 1 hour and half before the slot agreed

should I have said each time - can I have my delivery difference charge back as they charge more for my delivery time as it is peak.... and less when they actually deliver it...

(see my other tesco gripe - search for
" Can tesco have two refund policies online and in store???"

    STOP USING TESCO THEN!!!

I spend loads at tesco - insurance, credit card, DVD rental, phone and of course shopping. I have never had a bad experience at Tesco (actually, one that was sorted with a phone call and a very fair result), so I continue to shop there.

If I didn't have such a successful experience I would move to another shop - and don't give me the rubbish about Tesco being the only shop around because it's killed off all the other stores, it simply isn't true. Yes, it has affected other businesses and they have had to close down but people make out that every town in Britain is a tumble weed ridden, derelict graveyard!

Thinking purely business, if the shops had enough sense to charge less then they'd still be open. If they couldn't afford to charge less for their products then they're obviously going to have to shut - Tesco (and the others) are not charities and they make decisions to make money, just like any other business.

People that come on here and make it their job to moan about Tesco and still shop there irritate me immensely. Any other shop and you would just stop using them - as it's Tesco you want to jump and shout about your bad experience and how they're robbers out to make you poor!

This is not a dig at OP by the way, at least they had the common sense to use somewhere else for their shopping!

And FTB - keep up the good work :)

Yes, I am a Dot Com Manager for Tesco.Com

most dot com managers and team leaders struggle to do the drivers job,i dont mean doing 3 or 4 drops in a day , i mean doing 3 waves of drops with 30 drops in the middle of the country side, with no sat nav, because as you know the drivers have to buy there own and with some times unroadworthy vans

as far as you saying that the driver is at fault that this persons ambiant is not on the van,

there are times at the 7 o clock shift when the drivers come in to load there vans that the ambiant is missing and they dont have time to re pick the items as there are 150 items, and they have to be out by 7.15 or people will get there shopping late and the team leader say just tell them we will get it redelivered another day

Hi sorry to revive this thread but not been on for months and have seen this post that I missed so only polite to reply.

Obviously from your post you are a Dot Com driver. I can comment about the driving aspect of the job as that is how I started and spent 2 years at Tesco before moving through fast track Options and moving on finally to Dot Com Manager at another store.

I understand what you say about the Sat Nav situation (although new Dot Com operations are providing sat navs if the store manager agrees). I personally beleive that they should be provided to all drivers but that just isnt the case.

I know that team leaders and managers struggle to do the drivers job, the job is difficult and stressful, I never denied that.
  • I too am a dot.com driver, and we have quote a good system running here, where all crates are accounted for as they are loaded, and checked off on the manifests as they are loaded, and after loading. The drivers have to sign the loading sheets to say these checks have been done. To date, I have never had a missing crate on my round. Yes, I am also a evening driver, and we are only given 15 minutes to carry out van checks, load and depart.

I try by utmost to look after the customers, going out of my way on occasions to help them unpack their shopping, if time permits me to. One thing I do not approve of though is having your time being dictated to you by a COMPUTER! I too have to provide my OWN satmav and hi vis clothing, and safety boots (all of which should be provided by Tesco) and there were occasions where I have refused to take a certain vehicle due to illegal or unroadworthy defects. It's my licence, not Tesco's!
