Bit harsh but i see where you are coming from.
I would hardly say people using Tesco are being had, they are making a choice to buy goods cheaper and easier at their local supermarket, nobody forces them.
As for them not being there to help, just to make directors etc rich - of course thats why they operate, thats the case in any business surely. You dont run a huge business out of the goodness of your heart.0 -

Well, that told me didn't it! I'm a lazy mare who buys sub-standard produce and is too dull to know I am being "had" who should be going to the farm shop. I'm afraid farm shops are rather thin on the ground in my edge of SE London. :rotfl:
I'm not daft - you do not have a monopoly on this information. I know that companies like Tesco have destroyed the local shops that used to be within a 5 minute walk from my home (which are all now takeaway and kebab shops). But unfortunately this happened when I was still at school. Not a lot I can do about it now. And Tesco didn't do it on their own - people did actually go and buy from them.And yes, maybe I am continuing this by buying from them now. And yes, there are farmers producing some fabulous local produce which will be rejected by the supermarket on size and shape. I KNOW THIS. But I do not have easy, practical access to it.
Though I don't know why I feel I should explain myself, I have actually spent a lot of time, effort and money on "doing the right thing" with box schemes (too expensive), farmers markets and driving out to farm shops. But I have decided to stop beating myself up over it and to acknowledge that I am not perfect - I can't do it all. :A0 -
Anyway, thanks for the further info FTB. You are right about getting more joy from the store than you do from the head office. This has actually been my experience in the past and I think it is from acting on advice from your previous posts that I have had results before. But like Turning into Scrooge, I just can't be bothered anymore. There is only so much I want to put up with and am voting with my feet.0

My tesco shopping was due between 1pm and 3pm today. At 2pm I got a phone call from tesco customer service to say that due to a system malfunction my shopping would not be delivered today. He offered to re-deliver between 9pm and 11pm tomorrow, which I said I was not having. He then offered me wednesday between 1 and 3pm, which I accepted. Seems that Tesco have a lot of probs at the moment. Now I've got to go to Morrisons and get the essentials that I needed tonight.Ellie :cool:

Firstly the OP said she was missing all of her ambient items, therefore how can it be a picker error. They pick the shopping and then they push their trolley into the back area. Then they leave it and walk away. Then another member of the team turns the trolley around. They pull off the full trays and replace them with empties. They put this into the right area for the right van. This isnt hard as the van is written on each tray.
Then the van loader, if the store has one loads the van. If the store doesnt have one it is the drivers responsibility. Regardless of who loads the van it is up to the DRIVER to check their van. They know how many orders they have for that trip and exactly how many trays they have for that trip. If this driver in question had 10 drops to do then he would have only had 9 orders on the van when he left the store because he left the OPs ambient off. So he obviously didnt check his van as he is required to do and therefore he is at fault, nobody else.
Reading this and the detail of the procedure you say happens does this mean you have actually done this as a job in some form or other, in particular Tescos?0 -
When I had problems with online deliveries (cant remember if it was Tesco or Sainsburys now) I had to complain as I was waiting for food to be delivired that we were meant to be eating that evening. Since they missed the delivery slot I made sure they paid me compensation (think I got about £20) so we could have a takeaway. So would definitely be worth sticking to your guns. Rarely would a manager be willing to lose a customer over the sake of £20 or so if thats all they are asking for, so its worth giving it a go.0

They were willing to lose a customer over £2.37! In the end she gave me an address to write to head office. Normally I would go for it (or write to the branch as FTB suggested) - but I don't think I will bother. I feel so much better now I have had my vent on here0

Did you speak to a manager or one of the advisers? If I dont get the response I want I will keep going higher until I get what I want if I feel my request is reasonable. Failing that, letters generally work as its hard to send a voucher down a telephone line!0

I spoke to an advisor. I might run something off. I know what you mean about the vouchers. But you know when you just get past caring? Which is unusual for me because I'm usually an enthusiastic complainer!0
